OT: Wedding Gown - To sell or not?
I think everyone knows that we're in the process of selling our home and relocating to either DFW or Atlanta. As I've been cleaning out closets the past few weeks, I've been thinking about trying to sell my wedding gown. My reasons for selling are:
1. It's a size 16. I'm a size 4. I don't ever expect to be a size 16 again.
2. I don't really have anywhere to wear it.
3. I'm not having children where I could have the train made into a christening gown.
4. I won't have a daughter to pass it down to.
5. It takes up a bunch of space (it's been cleaned, preserved and boxed since the week after our wedding) and I don't really feel the need to move it again.
6. I could use the $. Even $100 would finance gas and food for an interview trip to DFW.
Has anyone sold theirs and then regretted it? I don't think I will and I'd love for someone to feel as pretty in it as I did, but I'd like to hear others experiences. What do you think?

My 2 cents is to sell it.

Just a man speaking here, but I can't think of a reason not to sell it. It seems you really want to, but you want justification. Like you said, even $100 could go towards gas and food for an interview trip. Therefore, you get good use out of your wedding gown. Twice. The first time when you married what's-his-name, and the second time when you work on going forward with your life.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
I was all ready to sell it and mentioned it to Michael this morning and he seemed to resist the idea. That's why I decided to ask and see if anyone had regrets on getting rid of theirs. I feel like I've got six really logical reasons to put it up for sale, but really only one sentimental reason to keep it. And if the world knew some of the stuff I got rid of in the past two weeks, there's no doubt that I'm breaking the ties of sentimentality when it comes to the idea of having to move these things again. (I got rid of my dad's baby book and pillow. I figured he's been dead nearly 15 years, my grandmother's been dead for 4 years, who was I appeasing by keeping them? I realize I may be going to hell for it.)

One of my animals got "sick" all over mine and I ended up throwing it in the trash cuz it wasn't worth the cost of cleaning and then preserving it to me. The gown meant a lot to me but since I could never use it again what's the point of keeping it? So I say sell it and let someone else experience the joy of owning it.

Jennifer......I got rid of mine after my WLS almost 4 yrs ago. Never plan to be in a size 20 again !!!! Besides it was starting to ROT is was so OLD !!! I have been married 32 yrs now. I am sure that you have photos and that is memory enough. Besides like you said you have no children to pass it down to if they would even want it if you did. Good luck with the move..hope your job interview in DFW area went well. Good luck with your decisions.

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE; COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!! THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

I guess what struck me about it is I haven't even touched the preservation box since I put it up on the shelf of my closet when we moved into this house nearly 8 years ago. Why do I need to keep moving this thing from place to place when there's no opportunity for it to ever be of use to me?
I was pretty sure I knew the answer before I posted. I just really needed a gut check to make sure I wasn't being too ruthless.

Do you have pictures and video in it?
It's cloth.
It does NOT make your marriage.
That being said, I've still got mine but it's wadded up in a plastic bag...lol. I never got it boxed and cleaned. I have two daughters and hope neither of them will EVER need a size 20 dress. The cost of altering it to a smaller size is not worth the expense.
