Looking at this protein shake...

...and thinking, Blah...  Almost a week down of the 2 week pre-op diet and I'm feeling the blahs.  I know I'll get over it but just looking at this shake makes me want to hurl.  I feel so ungrateful.  I should be happy to drink these things because of what good is going to happen next week, but I don't wanna drink it.

Ok, I'm gonna start on it now.  Thanks for letting me vent.

You don't have to WANT to drink it - you just have to drink it  - LOL

glad I made you smile - was afraid I might offend you but I tend to "tell it like it is"
you can do a lot with a protien shake but it will never taste like DQ but know what as much as I loved DQ I have a list a mile long of things I love more that Ican do now - from playing on the floor with my kids, not embarrasing my husband when I met new people he works with, mountian climbing, accually enjoying foods b/c now I have a taste and enjoy the flavor vs inhale as much as possible, I got a dress at a funky jr shop in the mall that is drop dead on me, running with my kiddo teaching him to bike ride - NONE of these we even POSSIBLE at 400 pounds
and all of those are things I love more than my DQ shakes and the resaon I just drink my shakes 2 to 3 a day even now - sucking one donw right now - not the best thing in the world but just part of my life - just gotta do it

best of luck -yes it is hard but oh my God it is sooooooooooooooo worth it

just remember what the rewards are ahead.  I know the protien shakes get old after a while.  Have you tried a smoothy king.  They have a meal replacement drink that has 45 percent protien.  They are good. also crunch some soni**** that always helped me out.   Keep up the good work and I hope you have a Great Day.

Keep your eye on the prize!!!

Smaller size clothes; not having to wear a seat belt extender on airplanes........make your own list and post it everywhere to remind you that this is a small hurdle you have to get past and YOU CAN DO IT!!!

NO.... not even being thrilled and excited about your upcoming surgery is enough to make you *like* the protein drinks LOL  Or even be happy you are drinking them.  But it will be over with very soon and you can start your new life - WOO HOO!

I still use the protein powder every day, but I have the luxury of mixing it with frozen fruit in a smoothie or dumping it in my coffee and I also get to eat real food in between.  You will be there before you know it.

Yeah, I thought the shake drinking prior to surgery sucked bc all I wanted to do was eat all those things I knew I wasn't going to get to eat afterwards.  The good thing about the shakes.  You should try several different kinds of flavors now so you'll know what you like for after surgery.  Shakes will be a mainstay for you for a long time.

For me the shakes were ok my problem was my grandmother died 2 weeks before my surgery.  I normally delt with emotional issues with food so it was really hard.  I felt really lost and I couldn't stuff myself to comfort so I just slept as much as possible in order to stay on track.

Just keep in mind that the protein you like before surgery you may not like after surgery.  Don't know why but your taste will change.  I was super sensitive to salt post surgery and things I used to like I just didn't.  Have enough protein on hand for a few days after surgery but don't buy in bulk or you could be throwing your $$$$ away.

You can do this and it is worth it!! There are loads of flavors and styles out there just mix it up a little!! The Gladiator at smoothie king is terrific and 45 gms of protein and really yummo!! Like Danni said --you don't have to be happy about it-just do it!!
