This is my independance day too!
Good Morning,
I am feeling the need to share this with all of you! Today is not only independace day for our country but it is independance day for me as well. It was 24 years ago today I took my last drink and did my last drug. Hard to believe it h as been this long. Went into a 39 day program on the 5th. I can remember going to an AA meeting when I first got out of rehab and hearing someone say they had 25 years clean and I said there is no way I will ever get there! Here I am. It is the Grace of God that has gotten me this far, and I thank him every day for the life I have. Thank you all for supporting me and loving me. Love you all so much. Michelle

Addictions: common usage of the term addiction has spread to include psychological dependence. In this context, the term is used in drug addiction and substance abuse problems, but also refers to behaviors that are not generally recognized by the medical community as problems of addiction, such as compulsive overeating.
The term addiction is also sometimes applied to compulsions that are not substance-related, such as problem gambling and computer addiction. In these kinds of common usages, the term addiction is used to describe a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences, as deemed by the user himself to his or her individual health, mental state or social life.
WOW thats such an accomplishment!!! I truely cannot imagine conquering that hurdle!!! I couldnt even get past the sugar addiction much less something as powerful as alcohol or drugs. ;)
Congrats on your success!
