I wish I could explain to the world how much I hate being unemployed then everyone would understand why I'm this obsessive about finding a job. This was one of the conversations I had with my mom this morning because she thinks I should just enjoy the summer off and lolly-gag around. There are times where I honestly can't believe that woman was part of my upbringing as we're so different. I'm definitely my father's daughter.

Hey there George...
Oh that up and down thing makes a person crazy when someone is in the hospital.  It just tugs at your heart because you get this false sense of hope when they have a good/great day followed immediately by an incredibly bad day.  I remember when my grandpa was in the hospital I'd get daily calls with how he was doing.  One day I'd feel hopeful and the next very frustrated.  Just being there for Brad and Oleta and keeping her mother in your thoughts and prayers makes a huge difference to them, I'm sure.  They may not tell you, but be assured, they know, so does the Good Lord himself.

Had a very frustrating day with my two older girls.  They partnered up in tennis today and ended up coming home playing that "blame game" for why this didn't do as well as they wanted in drills.  I had to give them a few life lessons in why it's not good to point fingers at one individual person.  They are a team when they are partnered up and have to accept each others mistakes without pointing out each others misses.  I had to explain how some days one kid might seem to miss shots that should be easily returned but some days it will be the same for the other person.  On a good note, Sarah had taken the class that was one level up from last year.  When I picked her up yesterday, the instructor told me to have her take the class that was one more notch up on her next class to see if she could handle it.  She did with no problem so she basically got to skip one entire level at that club!  Cool for her!

On an odd note, it is COLD up here!!!  Some odd ball cool front came through and both Tuesday and Wed. was only in the 60's with wind so it was chilly.  I had to dig through my mom's sweatshirts and pick one out to wear today.  Heather wore her hoodie from her high school team and Viktoria ended up having to find one here at the house, too, because she was cold as well!  Lows at night in the 50's even!  VERY unseasonably cool for this time of year!  Supposedly it will be warming back up to normal temps of mid 80's during the day, low 70's at night!  When I put Sarah to bed, had to put two fleece blankies on her!  The two older girls have a huge blanket and are wearing their darn socks to bed!  Too funny!!!  Wish I could send some down your way!!!

Have a good night!

Oleta is constantly thanking us.  She is very thoughtful.  Brad is.... well, Brad.  We understand him.

Wish we could get some cool weather too.  It did cool down today.  The other night at game time it was 104 degrees, tonight it was only 98.  Break out the jackets!  Actually, it was very pleasant out there tonight, even though there was no wind at all.

Glad to hear about Sarah.  Is she gonna pass the other girls accomplishments by the time she reaches their age?  The thing with H&V partnering up, normally not a good idea.  But they gotta do what the coach tells them.  Siblings that don't want to play together, normally don't do well when they are forced to.  And then, the aftershock, like you had today.  Well, here's hoping they learned that life lesson.

hey lady,
miss you lots. PLEASE send some of that cool down here. I cant breathe as it is.. and this unbearable heat isnt helping lol. My poor dogs are DYING! During the day, they run out, go potty, and rum back in! Barron actually burned his pawpad on the cement outside the backdoor the other day.  They do enjoy my insomnia and will go outside to play around 3am when its a bit 'cooler lol'.
Kudos to sarah on her tennis class.  H&V well.. gotta learn ya know.  im sure you handled it well.  Lord knows my sis and i could have never played on a team together without killing each other (even to this day :)
enjoy your stay but hurry home

I don't usually start topics, but a little girl in our community (Fort Worth, Texas) needs as many prayers as she can get.  Her name is Brittany Husted (no relation to Dr. Husted, as far as I know), and she has Down syndrome (which is how I know of her - her family is in our local DS support group).

A year ago, Brittany wasn't expected to live - she had to have open-heart surgery, she was on a ventilator for quite a while, and it looked like she might lose kidney function.  Well, Brittany is one of God's special children, and she has a fighter's spirit, and she managed to pull through all of that and was finally able to go home and go back to school after a long rehabilitation.

She was readmitted to the hospital in March with what turned out to be viral pneumonia.  She was released, but then had to go right back in because she was having problems with the circulation in one of her feet.  The doctors aren't sure what is causing this problem.  She was able to go back home, but a couple of days ago, she was rushed to the ER, vomiting blood and bleeding around her feeding tube (I guess she has been on TPN since last year).  They did an endoscopy and found several small ulcers and determined that she has gastroenteritis.

The doctors told her parents that anyone else would have been screaming from the extreme pain, but Brittany hasn't complained once (Brittany is 11 years old, but she has never been able to talk).   She has been receiving monthly blood transfusions, due to anemia, so they are hoping that this is the source of her blood loss.

Unfortunately, yesterday the doctor who has been following Brittany for her foot circulation problem came by to check on her and expressed some serious concern about the condition of her foot.  He is afraid that they might have to amputate her foot, because he doesn't think that just taking the toe that is currently infected will allow the rest of her foot to heal enough.  Her parents are afraid if that happens, she will never walk again.

Please, folks, pray hard, swing chickens, whatever it is that you personally do, for Brittany, her parents Doug and Kathy, and the doctors who are taking care of Brittany that all will be well.  I visited Brittany and her parents at the hospital last year, and they are the nicest people - they really deserve a break.  Brittany is an only child, and it took a long time for her mom to get pregnant.  She is the light of their lives, and they are understandably scared right now.

If you would like to leave a personal message for the family, there is a Care Page set up for her - the "name" of it is BrittanyPrayerPage.  I don't know if you can just access it or if you need to get approval from the moderator, but I don't think there should be any problem getting your name added to her "approved list" - just let them know how you heard about her.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support for this sweet little girl and her family-
