Thing is then, what to take instead?     They say that both naproxen and ibuprofen are also toxic in large dosages over time ..  (and are NSAIDs that many WLSers are not allowed to take anyway) ..     The expert on Fox News this a.m. said that many people also die every year due to even aspirin use ..

I have know for a long time that tylenol can cause liver damage.  There are side effects to all medications.  That is why it is imperative that consumers be proactive.  One must know what one takes, what the risks are, and make the best informed decision one can.  I can only take tylenol because other pain meds cannot be taken with coumadin which I have to take.  I watch my dosage closely and do not exceed the recommended amount.  We need to wake up and take some responsibility for our own health.  It is obvious that corporations are mainly interested in the bottom line and we can't expect the government to act as our parents and do everything for us all the time.  A little common sense can go a long way.

I don't understand the recommendation to just put a warning on OTC tylenol, but completely take vicodin off the market.
