7 Weeks out, a little worried!
Hey gang!!! It's been awhile since I've been able to post because MAN I've had some issues... Not to do directly with surgery, but I got ill with strep throat the week of the 15th, then last week on Wednesday, I had a really severe sinus attack and was out of work for 3 days!!! so it's been a trip. In that time I wasn't getting all my protein and water of course, and barley any food!!!! Needless to say, I have lost a grand total of 45 lbs since surgery!
I am having a problem though. After going through being sick and being back on the ball, my tummy is feeling back to smaller then EVER!!! I can hardly get a whole protein shake down without feeling completely stuff, overly stuffed... then with all my water intake, I never want to eat REAL solid food. I have no desire to eat and NOTHING sounds good, or really tastes great. I did have some beef cooked in taco seasoning on Friday, but even then I ate like MAYBE 5 bites and felt full. Maybe I'm feeling like, at 7 weeks out, I should be eating more and starting to get more of my protein through real food, which isn't happening. Should I be worried that I'm not eating enough solids at this point? Or am I a slow bloomer that will get there with time? Any thoughts out there?
Thanks guys!
Stacey
Take it easy, listen to your body and don't push things if it just doesn't feel right. If you start having problems getting shakes and/or liquids down it's time to call your doc. For now, I'd suggest keep doing what you are doing. Drink your shakes, get your fluid in and try little bits of food as you stomach will let you.

that happens to me whenver i have any kinda sinus/throat thing. I have been down with pneumonia the last few weeks. Im 3 1/2 years out and have been going on soups and protein shakes... mainly beceause i know i NEED to as opposd to WANT too. Just so not interested in food AND whenever im sick, things are really tight and cant get much down.
Just keep on at least with the shakes and water, and things will get back on track

Hi Stacey,
Hate to hear you've been sick. Hope you're feeling better.
I had my surgery on the 15th, and I've only lost about 27 lbs so far. I've really been bummed because I was hoping I would lose faster. I thought, "Great, I'm the only person that this surgery won't work for".
Have you been back to see Dr. B? I was suppose to go last week and had to cancel because of work.
You're doing awesome!
Val
No worries on being sick!! I hope this is a good week. Seems like every Monday I feel great and something hits me in the middle of the week... at least that is how it's been the past 2 weeks.
Keep your head up!!!! 27 lbs is amazing!!! Since the 15th of June??? That is only 2 weeks!!! I know I wouldn't have been able to do that without surgery, so I was happy to have 30 lbs gone!!! I think some of the weight loss has to do with the fact that I've been under the weather for the last 2 weeks!!! I went to the Dr. on the 20th, and was at 249, then I weighed on Wednesday and was already to 240! 9 lbs... that was quick. I expect that it will slow down. I'm ready to start working out again!!!! Also when I lurk on the boards, I've seen a lot of folks say that if you stick with the same 'rut' for too long you might stall out for a bit!!! You are doing great as long as you are following Dr. Barkers orders!!! THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU!!! I did stall out for about 1 week ... when I started trying new foods, I stalled. I assue this is because my body is healing from no food!!!!! Has to get used to this new eating style!!!!!
I haven't been since my 1 week post op!!! I had my 1 month scheduled on the 23rd, but I had change it to July 2nd because of work. Then Tonja called me Friday and they changed it to the 15th because they are re-doing some of their office stuff... so I will go in a couple of weeks, which will pretty much be a 2 month follow up!!
On the eating, not to discourage you at all but it took me almost a year before I felt like I was eating anything besides an oz or two per meal. I am thankful now that I didn't get to eat much early out, it becomes harder to control at this stage. Although when I compare (which isn't what I should do, negatively or positively) I can eat very little still compared to some post-ops.
If I eat right my meal probably doesn't consist of more than 4-5 oz a meal still.
