Are there any GOOD LOW CARB PASTAS that are sold at HEB?  I want pasta with turkey meatballs.

Since WLS, I've been using the Barilla Protein pasta.  I don't eat but a couple of noodles but I "rationalize" it by knowing the Barilla Protein stuff is adding to my protein count.  I've used the shells and the rotini's - both are good

Are they low on carbs?  I am only 21 days post op and don't want dumping or vomiting.  I haven't had either one yet and am not taking any chances.
I am just craving something different than plain meat and veggies.  I have turkey for the meatballs but don't know about the pastas.

Thanks,
DeborahL.

IF you eat a whole 2oz of cooked pasta, which even at 2+ years out I can't eat that much, you would get 2g sugar and 38g of carbs.

I eat maybe 10-12 shells or rotini noodles when I DO eat pasta so, I'm guessing it's a much smaller amt.  I count my 10-12 noodles as a 1/4 serving.

At the stage you are at, I was eating a bite of new stuff, chewing the small bite, i.e. one pasta noodle very slowly, and then waiting for about a 30 sec count to see if it was agreeing with me, then I'd eat another bite and wait.  My rule of thumb was if I got thru the first 3 bites and all was good I was probably going to hold it down ok.  Still to this day I do the 3 bite test on anything new or suspicious!!

I just don't want to go overboard on the carbs.  I did this surgery for a reason and I don't want to blow it.
I have been so lucky since my surgery.  I have not vomited one time yet and I don't really want to start.  But, I do want some pasta tonight.  I will check out your suggestion.

Thanks,
DeborahL.

Pasta was one of the first foods I tried after I had my surgery , I cooked the egg noodles a little longer and put ground sirlion and brown gravey with it and i lived off that the first few months.

Don't know how adventuresome you are?  You can use spaghetti squash or zucchini/squash/peppers sliced like noodles instead of noodles.  I don't know if you are like me... I had a serious addiction to carbs prior to surgery.  Noodles, rice and bread are all things I have given up since surgery. I find when I eat them I can't eat enough to be satisfied and I think about them often.  I have found the easiest thing is to avoid them completely.  I do have some on occasion and go through the same process as a described and say no more of those carbs for me and I usually won't eat them again for several months.  Hope this helps.  Jamie

I may just fix the meatballs and sauce and top with parmesan cheese and call it good.  I don't want to mess up.

Thanks,
DeborahL.
