Best Vits/Supplements you recommend?
I want your opinions and suggestions on cost efficient vitamins/supplements-- brands you take!
Since WLS almost 2 years ago this Thursday.....
I have been taking Bariatric Advantage vitamins--
4 of the 400 mg Calcium Lozenges (Mint) daily
2 of the Multivitamin (chewable- tropical flavor)
1 29mg Chewable Iron pill
I sublingual B12 from walmart
For a three month supply, I think on average I pay $150 (give or take a few)... But, the calcium seems to TAKE me forever to take daily, and was wondering if there is ANYTHING you guys just absolutely LOVE and find cost effective and time effective, where it does not seem like you are always taking vits.
I've slacked in the area the past year on taking the 1600 mg of calcium daily, but I do have labs drawn every 3 months and no abnormal results-- except for my severe anemia, which I had prior to surgery, no known cause or reason why I can't absorb iron!
Thanks inadvance for your feedback... That is my REDEDICATION to myself-- take ALL vits/supplements again without missing a dosage.
Do you guys like chewables or pill form?

Juliet, you DO know that the calcium you are taking is not the right kind, don't you? It is my understanding that we can't break down the calcium carbonate form and do not absorb much of it. We have to have the calcium CITRATE form, which is hopefully what your surgeon/NUT recommended.
The problem with taking the wrong kind is you won't know until it is too late. Your calcium levels will be fine in your blood work because your body will take it from your bones, just like it does when you are pregnant. Unless you are having yearly dexascans you won't know if that is happening or not. And you are too young to have yearly dexascans (unlike an old crone like me who is post-menopausal and does not get the benefit of hormones to help prevent calcium loss from her bones).

I order a lot of my stuff from Puritan's Pride. Right now they are having a buy 1, get 2 free sale. Here's an example of one: Chewable papaya (sugarfree) 90 tabs $6.99 BUT you get 2 bottles free so 270 tabs for $6.99. I order my multivitamin, B complex, B-12 sublingual (they taste great), vitamin C and Zinc from there. Total shipping is $4.95. Their webite is www.puritan.com. My calcium is Citracal Petites from Walmart. I've never taken iron.
