The WEEKEND WATCHMAN (Fri-Sat) 6/26-27
Last night they sent me home from work early. I almost passed out. The a/c had been out for 3 days. It is finally working today. I am working OT, that isn't OT because I left early yesterday. Tomorrow night will be OT.
Oleta's mom took another bad turn today. Her scleraderma has now taken over her lungs. Oleta's spending the night out there tonight. Not sure what is going on.
Prayer requests are listed below.
Also, please feel free to just visit here. Tell us about how your day went. Your successes. Your failures. Your fun. Whatever. When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.
Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness. Please thank God for these men and women every day. In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Getting ready to hit the pillow but wanted to pop on first. DD#2, V, had a bad night. She started having some pain in her right ear. Luckily this mom has an otoscope to peek in her ear (after having a nurse once tell me I didn't know what I was talking about when my kid had ear pain) and OMG, her ear tube was just loaded with stuff that I swear, looked exactly like Elmer's glue! Knew IMMEDIATELY she had an infection, big time. Thankfully I brought ALLLLL the meds that I envisioned any of my kids needing so started the antibiotic ear drops as well as a round of antibiotics that were extras from one other time she had them and the doc told me to just hold onto them "for a rainy day" after he determined the infection she had one other time was gone. My dad then got on the phone and called a buddy of his whose wife is a nurse in an audiology office here in town. I talked to her and told her what I had already done and she was like, "wow, you've pretty much done everything we would have done here in the office, meds wise, except for one thing", then told me what one OTC thing to get, which I did, and started her on that. She also told me if things don't get better by Monday to let her know and she'd get her in to see one of the docs in her office ASAP. So, she went ahead and went over to my sister's tonight (the girls always head over to her house on the weekends) but I sent her with the meds and showed her what to do with everything. CRAZY how she was fine yesterday, then boom, instant pain and big time infection today. Of course something was brewing behind the ear that I couldn't see until today, but still. Ear pain is hell and she knows allllll too well about ear pain! I told her inasmuch as she hates the idea of ear tubes, if it wasn't for those tubes, she would have for SURE had a busted ear drum with that junk that was back there. Hopefully it will clear up soon. The nurse I spoke to said the ear drops will really be the best "front line" attack so to speak so we will for sure keep them up and going! Poor kiddo!!!
Ok, gotta run. I have to help mom and dad cook for 75-100 people for their monthly fundraiser dinners they have at the aviation museum. My job is to make 14 recipes of mac and cheese. The one I make is yummy - nice and creamy so I'll be having to do that all afternoon!!! Their menu this month is brats, mac and cheese, baked beans, salad and then a build-your-own sundae. My girls will like THAT part!
Glad you're feeling better! Will continue to keep Oleta and Brad in my thoughts.
Poor V! Glad her mom had the foresight to pack all the meds AND otoscope! Not sure i would have remembered that one! Hope she gets better asap!
Umm enjoy your 14 recipes of mac n cheese, thats a lotta boiled pasta!!!

When I was born, I cried and the world rejoiced. Now i wanna live my life so that when I die, the world cries and I rejoice
So, yesterday was pretty much disastrous. I had a terrible ranting, raving and crying sort of day and didn't really like the person I was most of the day. Finally around 9:40, I pulled it together and took White Dog to Sonic for her birthday. That was fun, but not as enjoyable as our usual birthday tradition of Dairy Queen. (Not that I eat with them, I just stand around watching and occasionally taking photos.)
I didn't sleep well last night. This morning I had to be at church before 9am to drop off food for a funeral meal. When I got back, I got caught up on email and then planned out the day. We decided it was going to be too busy to hang at the pool today so we decided to get rid of stuff. Between City Hazardous Waste, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and 1/2 Price Books, we no longer own 2 TVs, a VCR, 50 VHS movies, a graphing calculator, and 19 books. We spent our 1/2 Price Books buy back money on lunch which was a nice treat. I went to AT&T and got a second cell phone number so I now have a local Dallas number. I'm hoping that may help me secure more interviews if it seems like I'm already living there.
When we got home, Michael pulled out my old laptop (that I retired over a year ago), we went through all of the old files on it one last time, was able to retrieve most of my calendar (After I'd gotten my new personal laptop, I was only backing up my calendar on my work laptop. Stupid move on my part...when I lost my job, I lost my calendar), and then wiped it clean, reformatted it and reinstalled the OS and Microsoft Office. He's putting it up for sale on Craigslist as I type this. Sadly, when I got my calendar open, I realized White Dog's birthday is actually today and not yesterday. I'm the worst pet mom ever. I spent two hours putting my old calendar on my new laptop, integrating anything new I could remember (births, weddings, etc.) that happened in the last 14 months since I'd backed it up on my personal laptop and then also backed it up to my phone so I've got a duplicate.
I've been doing laundry, too. The sixth load is in the wash and so far, I'm up $13. (I'm starting to think Michael knows how much I enjoy "laundry tips" and is purposely leaving money in his clothes for me.)
So, I write it all out and it seems like I've accomplished a ton today, yet I'm sitting here thinking of like 50 other things I should've done. The Realtor is going to be here at 2pm on Monday. I need to get closets cleaned out before the first showing. I need to do some tidying as I've been a little messy this week. The grass needs to be cut. Lots of stuff like that. I have a massive list going.
I hope your well, that Mary's been able to get some rest and the Oleta's mom had a better day today. Which reminds me, I didn't even get into all the stuff going on in Michael's family...last week Friday, his aunt and uncle were in a car accident. It was bad enough that they were both taken to the hospital via ambulance. His aunt demanded to be released that night (yeah, she's one of those people), his uncle was in the hospital until Sunday I think. I don't know all of the cir****tances, but yesterday, his aunt ended up going to the emergency room. They started doing tests and realized that she needed a higher level trauma center than she was at and transfered her to another hospital. Lots of tests, hemoglobin dropping, internal bleeding, net net, she ended up having emergency surgery tonight to remove her spleen. It had ruptured. They seem to think that was the cause of all the internal bleeding. Hopefully everything is under control now and she's on the road to recovery. We also found out tonight that his uncle has been sleeping in the recliner all week because if he lies down flat in bed since the accident, he can't breathe, but he was refusing treatment until they figured out what was wrong with his wife. Ever since his aunt got out of surgery, Michael's been all over the phone with his cousins getting them to stand up to their father and get him to start getting treated before we get to go through more emergency surgery. It's been a crazy day on that front, too. Phew...talk about a brain dump. Thanks for letting me get all that out.
I'll be around for a bit still tonight. Prayers for all who need them.

If I were lying, wouldn't my pants be on fire?!?
Wow, what a CRAZY day! I spent most of the day out at the aviation museum making mac and cheese for the fundraiser dinner. It was taxing being on my feet over the stove for 4-5 hours, but it was well worth it. They had a pretty good showing of people and one lady liked the mac and cheese so much so that she ended up buying one of the extra full pans we had! Cool!!!
Looks like the TMB had a lot of drama today. Hope and pray we can just move on for the good of the board. Just hate to see things in turmoil.
It's late though now at nearly midnight and that alarm is going to go off early for church. I'll check in with you later.
Not much new here. Hope you are feeling better George, this heat is no fun at all. DD & I had a great evening at Joe's Crab Shack! Was awesome to have a night out with some great friends! Missed you, George, and Mary this evening.
Continued prayers for Oleta and her mom, also the rest of the family. Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests. Blessings to all.
