I absolutely love arlington, I live in the suburb right next to it! Here they all blend anyway. But lots of stuff to do, great shopping and near alot of jobs!

I''m with Jack"s thinking the West side of Fort Worth area is worth a serious look-I'm orginially from here and we retired here after 26 yrs moving around the world and US. Traffic problems are much less than any other area around DFW-Several major hospitals located within an easy commute -Weatherford,Aledo, Granbury, -all are lower cost of living, and ranching communities-Sorry guys but Arlington has grown into a big city nightmareof traffic and red lights to get anywhere-lots of stores, entertainment, restaurants, UTA but generally not worth the traffic I always get into-so if your looking for country and Big Sky its west of FT Worth. East of Dallas is OK if you are into Pine forests, more rain etc but I can't think of a big hospital area that way. Hill country is beautiful but has become popular so costs have risen. Travel to Austin- San Antonio area -love it briefly but again traffic is a commuter nightmare. Austin fun and funky but costs have risen dramaticly over the past few years, its been slipping out of the best places to live catagory. I would not go near the panhandle myself, too much cold weather. West -West Tx is desert like. I should mention Houston area on the coast-Major metropolitan area, my daughter is moving to the small town area of Alvin with her 2 big dogs, horse, and cats-bought 2.5 acres for about 60k and a new mobile home will be about 80k, note the owners sold due to last years hurricane destroyed the home that was on it. Also a traffic nightmare area I only drive there Sundays and around midnite. One last note if you didn't already know. TX does not have State Income Tax. However city property taxes can be very high, and sales tax is 8.5%.
My brain is fried from the heat, but forgot to mention that there are two very large hospitals being built within 45 miles of Austin - Scott n White in Marble Falls and Lakeway Medical Center in Lakeway. (Lakeway is a VERY affluent subarb of Austin - doubt you could find anywhere to live there under $300,000.00. (My son's MIL just sold her home in Lakeway for 3.5 million....)
