Hey guys, I am 3 1/2 weeks out and have been doing great, today though I am feeling very weak- like I did the first few days out of surgery. Is this normal. How long does it last? I thought I saw a mention of it before...anyway I went to the gym this morning and just didn't have it in me so I did 45 min instead of an hour and then was barely able to get though a shower. I am getting in all my liquid and protien. Any suggestions or explanations? Thanks!!!

Make sure you are getting all of your vitamins.  You probably also need extra sleep.  I took naps for a few months.  Also, since it has gotten hotter lately, you may need to increase your water intake.  Usually when I feel weak, it is because I'm a little dehydrated.  It may take a day or two to get myself completely right again.

Taking all vitamins...going to take a nap and see if that helps. Thanks for the reply!

If a nap and time out of the heat doesn't help GO SEE YOUR DOC

feeling weak is the first symptom I really showed with a very nasty surgical infection a few years back - better safe than sorry - esp if you have any tender or red or raised areas around your insisions

I can remember feeling the same way.  I always assumed it was that I was taking in fewer calories.  Your energy will come back.  Just listen to your body.  If you need a nap take one.

Rhiannon,  if you have time go look at my profile.  Week 3 was when I lost ALMOST ALL of my energy, it lasted for for 5 weeks and then I started feeling better.

My suggestion is PROTIEN SHAKES, PROTIEN SHAKES, PROTIEN SHAKES.  Yes, not enough protein intake will seriously make you feel exhausted.  I can still tell at 4 years out when I'm not getting enough in daily.

I get in 60 grams of protien a day between food and shakes.....are my hour cardios taking too much out of me or is it just time for my body to be worn out?

Rhiannong, you may try adding another shake and with milk if you can handle it.  Are you eating before your cardio?  Gosh, I wish Tawyna would be around, she works out hard and she could probably offer you good suggestions on a well-rounded good-carb snack with your workout.  It MAY be draining you more and require "extra".

I am still a pre-op therefore I do not have the wisdom of the wonderful post-ops here.   However; I just wanted to say I hope whatever is causing these symptoms do not last much longer and you get to doing better soon.   Warm Wishes ~Heidi
