They didn't remove all the stitches, just enough to be able to pack it.  I have home health care coming in daily to repack it and dress it.

Sorry about your problems, I was in the same boat.  I developed a severe infection that landed me back in the hospital  less than a week after surgery.  My husband had to pack the incision site for about 3 weeks before it was closed enough to heal.  Just remember to do what the doctor says.  You are very fortunate to have home healthcare come do the packing for you.

You are in my thoughts!

I am very glad I have home health care doing this.  I would hate to have to have my room mate do it, although I know she would do it if she had to.  She has been with me through 5 surgeries and has had to do all kinds of things to help me out.  She is an angel.  My youngest son even had to pack one wound I had about 4 years ago on my shoulder/back.  I had a cyst that ruptured and spread in the muscle causing a Staph infection.  My roommate was out of town on business so my 16 yr. old at the time had to step up and take care of me.  He was such a blessing for me.
Thanks,
DeborahL.
