Birthdays with birthday cake
So birthday is Monday and it is the first year that I won't have a cake! My daughters won't really understand why I won't have a cake. They are only 5 years old and they think if it is your birthday then you have to have a cake. Seems funny and weird and sad all at the same time.

they make a low sugar cake mix - you can buy a nsa cheese cake - you can tell them you want something differnt this year, you are all going out and each person can order a dessert to celebrate - you can make/have made an ice cream cake with nsa ice cream and low sugar cake and frost it with nsa cheesecake flavored frosting:) - how about a birday dinner for monday night with pancakes with funny faces - use sf syurp and fresh fruit to decorate them with a LITTLE wipped cream
you have options and those do include simply saying mom does not want a cake this year I want to learn to .......xyz with my girl for my bday instead and make that our new traditions, I want a new rose bush to plant and we will pick one out with pretty colors so I can enjoy it all year long - and since they are 5 reasure them THEY can have birthday cake for their birthdays
I am 3 yrs out now and my kids are 1,6 and 15 and it still bugs the 6 yo i I don't have a "cake" but he doesn't care what I stick a candle on and call a cake either LOL

Hi Tonya,
Monday was my birthday. Instead of cake my husband and I went to Marble Slab and got one small serving of sweet cream ice cream with strawberries and split it.
I'm always reminded of my surgeon, Dr. Patel, on my birthday. When I attended my pre-op seminar, he said, "After you have your surgery I want you to think of me every year on your birthday. Go ahead and have a big slice of chocolate cake to celebrate because then when you're throwing up because of the sugar, you will remember me and the way you used to be."
Seriously, I can now eat almost anything as long as I limit it to 2 or 3 bites. The Pillsbury Reduced Sugar cake mixes are excellent and Splenda.com has some very good recipes for icing/frosting. But, it looks like you're only a couple of weeks out from surgery. If that's the case, you'll be better just to explain to your kids that Mommie had surgery and still can't eat that sort of thing.

Sugarless Delite on Campbell near Coit in Richardson. They've been around for about 20 + years and everything they have (that I've tried) is great. I haven't been post-op but used to go there a lot when I worked in Richardson because I could pick up some good sweets for my grandfather...he was diabetic. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date. Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!
This. They have just about every flavor of DaVinci a girl would want too.
