Tortilla Chips???
As I said in my earlier post-chips are a very poor choice. You did this to be healthy so you need to focus on protein and nutrition. Chips are fat and carbs and offer no nutritional benefit. I would suggest setting up an appt with the nutritionist at Dr Barker's office so you can learn about proper nutrition post-op.

One or two nachos is not likely to hurt you. Everyone is different, with different criteria for their healthy intake. Tortilla chips, especially corn, work well for me. I don't dump on them, and as long as I take the carb intake into consideration when planning my menu choices for the day/week, it usually doesn't hurt me. My feelings on it, for my body, is that I did not have this surgery so that I would deny myself good stuff all the time, it is a tool to allow me to live a healthy well balanced life. Everything is about balance. You may find that the chicken nachos are a bit too greasy. I always blot the grease off as much as possible, and eat very slowly, paying attention to my fullness level. Their nachos are half of a tortilla.
I checked the menu at chili's for nut info, and here it is for the Kickin Jack Nachos with Fajita Chicken:
for ONE nacho:
Calories: 120
Fat: 8g
Sat. Fat 3.8g
Carbs 5.6g
Protein 8.1g
Fiber .75g
Sodium 342.5 g
On the nuts, opinions vary on this as well. My cousin, who is like 3 years out from RNY, is still afraid of nuts. I chew them well, and lean pretty heavily for my snacking needs on nuts. I keep cashews on hand at all times. I know almonds are better for ya, but I prefer cashews.
I have done pretty well with my weight loss, and I do eat nachos, or just 4-5 chips with queso almost every time we go to a Mexican restaurant. You have to decide for yourself what you want to put into your body.
Hope this helps!
Jenn

I absolutely disagree. At THREE WEEKS OUT there's no way chips are a viable option. Her tiny tummy can hold very little food and she needs to focus on nutrition. Trust me, I'm not a "health food" guru like some. I eat my fair share of junk food but I'm also 2 years out, have a much larger tummy now than in the beginning and I also get in ALL my required protein etc per day. I would bet at 3 weeks out she's still struggling with getting in all her protein, vitamins and water. Plus like Paul said, it's time to work on changing some old habits. At 6 months out, I'd say "go for it", but not at 3 weeks out.

OMG, Steph, you are so right!! Shame on me for not looking at her surgery date.
Toyiac, I am sorry that I fueled your fire. I think we all know how it feels to want something that we could easily eat pre surgery. At 3 weeks, you are still on soft foods I believe. Hang in there. Pintos and cheese may be the closest thing that you can get to those nachos you crave right now.

One of my fav. "meals" my first few weeks out was to go to Chili's and order their "skillet queso" w. chips .. I would break the chips into tiny pieces to make like "microchips" (no pun) and would use those to scoop up a little bit of the chili sauce onto them ..

This early out, I'd definitely stay away from them. My first ever dumping experience was at about 7-8 months post-op on tortilla chips.
Most nuts are OK. I've had problems with soy nuts jamming up in my stoma and taking a while to pass - no matter how much I chew them - and I've become allergic to peanuts since surgery. I eat almonds and cashews fairly regularly without issue.
Again, you're really early out. At three weeks, I was still doing a lot of mushy foods like pudding, mashed potatoes, creamy soups, etc.

Toyia, I'll chime in with Jen. Those chips may be your first dumping episode. I am not normally a dumper but my very first dumping episode was 2 tortilla chips with a piece of beef fajita meat and queso.
