If your diet is medically supervised just follow their instructions and you will be fine.  Good luck to you.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

My advice is to just take it slow.  If you go out to eat don't eat anything you havent' tried before because you never know how it will make you feel.  If something doesn't settle well with you at first wait and try it again in another week or so.  Other than that just follow the rules:  Don't drink when you eat, eat your protein first.  If you need anything just ask.  We are here to help.

The main lesson I learned was that I could not eat anywhere NEAR the portions I used to eat, or even the portions a normal-weight person eats.  I had to learn that, when I got that tight feeling in my chest, it was time to stop!!  Because if I didn't, I was guaranteed to barf -- not my favorite after-dinner activity.

You will be tempted to keep eating the "easy," soft post-op foods, like cottage cheese, just to get your protein in.  Try to do that as little as possible.  My surgeon encourages his patients to eat the "rough, tough" foods that are hard on your pouch, like steak, precisely because we can't eat too much of them without feeling terrible or getting sick.  That portion control is one of the main reasons the pounds disappear.

SMALL bites and Chew, Chew, Chew

Try one thing new every day or every other day so you know how it will "sit"; like Teena said, if it doesn't work for you now, try it later.  Tuna worked ok for me those first couple of weeks and doesn't now....no clue why!

Don't drink with your meal.

Wait the 30 min after to drink anything.

RELAX!!!!  Breathe.  You will do fine.

And check in often and let us know how you are doing!!!!!

Thanks guys!!!  What do  you all think about chicken nachos from Chili's.  Are tortilla chips okay?

I wouldn't start on tortilla chips now or ever.  They are from the devil, lol.  The chicken and cheese nachos are probably OK (but 1-2 will fill you up) but no chips.  It would be better to take 2-3 bites off someone else's plate.  Or just order one side dish like green beans or another healthy veggie.

Everyone is different but for me chicken was hrd for me to digest. It seemed to always get stuck. Even to this day I can not eat a lot of chicken white or dark mean so I tend to stay away. You may do OK with it but be careful.
