In nearly 5 years, I have never found one I like. HOWEVER, GNC does have a liquid protein that 3 tablespoons is 18 grams - so I would put the 3 tablespoons into a small plastic cup and drink it quickly...twice a day sometimees 3 times a day.

The first thing you need to do is adjust your mind to the fact that ALL PROTEIN TASTES LIKE S**T!!!! Don't go into it looking for something that tastes great. Look for something that doesn't make you gag at the smell.

I have tried a ton of different ones: Atkins, Unjury, Isopure clear ready to drink, Max Protein, Worldwide, Micellar Milk, Bullets, Bariatric Advantage, Nectar all flavors in a sample pack, Carb Rite, Isopure powder. They all taste like vomit to me.

The only thing I can tolerate is BSN Dessert Protein. They sell it at the Vitamin Shoppe. It comes in a bunch of flavors, but I use vanilla or chocolate. I put 2 scoops in a bowl, add some water and mix it into a paste. Then I pour that into a huge coffee cup and add hot decaf coffee. I also add some sugar free flavored syrup, usually hazelnut or caramel. You have to stir a lot and it looks like little chunks are at the top, but it goes down and stays down.

Also, at night sometimes I mix a scoop of protein with sugar free instant jello pudding and milk. It isn't as good as regular pudding, but it works. Sometimes I put sugar free cool whip on top.

I disagree. I LOVE my protein drinks! I use Max Protein, Nectar and a concoction that I got off the RNY board called Hot Protein Chai Tea. I don't drink any of these just mixed with straigh****er....the are all "doctored" up with a little of this or a little of that but I honestly enjoy them.....sometimes I even have them for the heck of it....even though my protein count for the day has been met.

Sure thing!  Pam T on the RNY board came up with this.....she has a blog with some AMAZING recipes on it....The nutritional info will vary depending on the brand of protein you use but should be close. I don't use the chai spice blend as I drink ALOT of this and the premixed can be pricey but I do sprinkle a little on top of my whippage. I also double the amount of cinnamon/ginger mix from what Pam's recipe calls for to a tablespoon of each instead of half tablespoons. I do use the cardamon...Pam doesn't when she makes it. I also use 6 oz of water instead of 8 because I like a slightly richer taste.

Pam's recipe without any changes:

Protein Hot Chai Mix

 6 scoops vanilla protein powder

1.5 cups non-fat powdered milk

3/4 cup instant unsweet tea mix

3/4 cup Splenda

1T. chai spice mix (or use half cinnamon and half ground ginger)

1t. ground cloves

1t. cardamon (original recipe calls for this, but I don't have any, so skipped it)

Mix all dry ingredients in bowl until well blended.  Add 1/2 cup of mixture to mug and add either splash of cold milk or water -- stir to create smooth paste (so you don't get lumpy protein powder).  Add 8oz ho****er and mix well.  You can top with Light Redi Whip and a sprinkle of chai spice or drink it naked.  (The drink is naked, not you.)

Recipe makes 7 half-cup servings. Calculation below is without the "splash of milk" when you're mixing the tea.  If you use RediWhip -- it adds about 20 calories.

Calories: 146

Fat: 1g

Carbs:  9g

Protein: 27g

Tonya, you need to get samples don't spend allot of money on tubs of protein because it can get costly.

Here are a couple of sites that sale samples, I'm sure there are more:  www.vitalady.com; www.bariatriceating.com.

I don't mind sending you a couple of the Optimum Nutrition that I like.  I have Vanilla Ice Cream and Double Rich Chocolate, if you PM me your address I can get a couple out to you by the end of the week to try (I'm running with Jury Duty and Baseball tournaments so I cannot promise them to you til early next week).

My favs are GNC chocolate-caramel (I mix mine in my morning coffee) and IDS vanilla cinnamon.

I tried the Isopure drinks and didn't like them.

The Unjury chocolate is really good, too.

Even though I have found protein shakes I like DOESN'T MEAN THEY TASTE LIKE A MILKSHAKE.  The whey protein flavor has an odd aftertaste that is hard to disguise.  I think that is why I like the choc-caramel and van-cinnamon combos.  The caramel is strong and so is the cinnamon and it hides the whey taste better.

Good luck!

I like the premade Worlwide Pure Protein drinks. I have at least one a day and have for over 2 years. They have 35 gms protein, 160 calories and are not overthick!
Smoothis king has a drink called The Gladiator they make there that comes with 2 fruits mixed in. Tasty but things whipped that much give me gas so I only have them every now and then. They also sell the gladator powder!
Good luck,
Meggie

I'm still looking for the Max protein.  None of the GNC's near me carry it.  I like the Nectar Roadside Lemonade flavor added to tea or sugar free lemonade.
