I am almost certain that somebody has already come up with this great idea for a nice WLS friendly treat-- instead of eating apple pie and vanilla ice cream.

I'm usually "sticking" to my plan meals and snacks for the day, which does not usually consist of different variety of foods for me-- I like the same ole, same ole and NEVER get tired of it. However, this afternoon I was going through the pantry and realized that I had some canned NSA apple pie filling, and decided to have a 'little' WLS friendly snack.

Great Value No Sugar Added Apple Pie Fillings splenda (walmart brand) 1/3 cup is a serving: Calories 30  Fat 0 Soduim 10 Potassium 40 Carbs 7 dietary fiber 1

Kraft Fat Free Cool Whip 2 tablespoon is a serving: Calories 15  Fat 0 Soduim 5 Carbs 3

I used 2/3 cups of the GV NSA Applie Pie Filling- heated it in the microwave for about 35 seconds, add a dash of cinnamon and 1 packet of the splenda and topped with 1 tablespoon of the Kraft Fat Free Cool Whip.

Total Stats for what I made which was the 2/3 cup of GV NSA APPLE FILLING WITH 1 tbsp Kraft FF Cool Whip:
Calories: 67.5
Fat: 0
Carbs: 15.5

Not too bad and tasty, too!!!

EDIT TO ADD:
Of course you can add unflavor protein powder to make it "high protein" however I get TOO much protein in throughout the day.

I'm excited that I was able to come up with a WLS friendly snack all by myself and not too many people have done it-- none that I know of, yet.

I posted a reply to Danni about using the cool whip in it's "semi soft" stage from frozen to fridge thawed but not "whipped" all the way for a more "ice cream" sense.

I think it is yummy! Also, another tidbit for you is if you want the more ice cream sense then cool whip-- use the cool whip after purchasing or placing in the fridge from freeze after a couple of hours-- it's not the "whipped" cool whip, but the half/half (if that makes sense!!) It's the semi soft stage!! Still yummo!

I made something similar this weekend.  I took Kashi premade pilaf, added some ricotta cheese with SF Ocean Spray peach drink mix mixed in, added frozen mixed berries sith spenda, toped with Kashi blueberry cereal, and baked like a berry cobbler.  I then topped the hot "cobbler" with Greek yogurt mixed with Spenda.  It was good, but a little dry before the yogurt.  Next time I'm going to try adding liquid to it before baking.
