Welcome Daniel.  Congrats on choosing a healthy life style.  I was scared to death before surgery too and then less than one year later I was at GOAL.  Incredible journey but worth every minute.  We're a crazy group so just jump right in.

Welcome, Daniel!  Since I am pre-surgery as well, I'll leave it to the others who have "gone before us" to ease your mind.

Read your profile and I think it was awesome of your father to help you out like this.  I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Hi Daniel, and welcome to your new journey for life changes.  I had my surgery June 9th and have already lost 8 lbs since surgery.  I have had a few problems but, nothing too serious that can't be overcome.
If you have questions, this is the best place to ask them.  Everyone here is so helpful.  Even if you think the question is silly, ask it anyway.  You never know, it may be one of the most important questions of your life.
Hope to see you on the TMB alot.

Howdy Daniel and welcome to the TMB ..       You'll get a lot of great support here along your journey ..

I noticed on your profile that you are 500+ lbs. at under 6' ..   Wow, that's one SSO BMI! ..      Have you looked at getting the DS instead of just a V.S.G.?   That's a lot of excess weight to lose with a sttand-alone VSG ..    I know some DS surgeons now require patients with BMIs over 50 to do the procedure in two steps for safety's sake, with the VSG part done first and the siwtch done after the BMI has dropped below 50, but you might be able to get it all done at the same time, and as a result lose more weight, faster, and keep it off better   ..  I think the nearest experienced DS surgeon near you is probably Dr. Erik Wilson in Houston ..    You might want to get a consult with his office as a "second opinion" on the idea ..

Good luck on whatever you decide to go with ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
