Okay so I just passed my one year mark in May and although my weight loss is still good (lost 6lbs so far this month and 15lbs from goal) I am finding myself up against a wall right now.  I'm still motivated but when it comes to food... I'd almost rather not even eat!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm bored with food... nothing sounds good and I'm tired of drinking water!!!!!!!!!!  I have started this week tryng some different drinks... FUZE slenderize, SOBE 0cal... so that is getting a bit better this week but I'm still struggling with food!!!!!!!!

Did anyone else go through this????  Suggestions????  I do stalk Eggface and make a lot of recipes.... but again I'm bored with food!!!!!!

Any great tried and true recipes that you love would be most appreciated!!!!!

I dunno me im tired of following the rules too and its showing (feeling sluggish, ankles swelling again) Im thinking of joining the jumpstart june or something in hopes I can get back on track.   We had trouble sticking to things like this from the start, one way or another, thats why we ended up opting for surgery, to help where we couldnt help ourselves.  Sometimes I wish i had a drill sargent to order me to do what i should do on my own lol I give myself way to much slack...

Waves hand high, I'm struggling with food and water too Paige.  I now I need to up my protein and drink water but continue to struggle everyday with it.  My protein intake hasn't been good at all and I'm sure that is why I'm exhausted.  (note to self, the SHAKE is important, drink it dang it).

Paige,

This is very common. Some days I eat everything in sight and some days nothing sounds good. I'm not a good example of someone that gets enough protein. But I have found the past week that fresh veggies on the grill and fresh fruit ha**** the spot. And I try to throw some protein in with it. I'm not good at drinking protein drinks, but bought a little ice cream maker and have been making my protein drink into a ice cream shake. But your right eggface always has good ideas.

Your loved!

Hi Paige,

I have no recipes to offer.  I do feel at times that this is a second job and I hate feeling that way.  I must admit that I am never tired of food. It is making the proper food choices that I am tired of. If I even look at a piece of cheesecake, it seems like I gain weight.

I've been in the same boat and started branching out with new food choices to help inspire me.   For example; I have discovered that I LOVE orange, yellow and red bell peppers.  So, we've grilled them with sweet onions and chicken, had them plain with a little ranch dressing, eaten them as snacks, etc...    Not sure why at 39 I suddenly crave the stupid things, but I do.  So much so, that we're on vacation and went to the store to pick some up along with a cucumber that I cut up and ate as a snack (part of it anyway).

Recipies...  What I do to look for inspiration is go out to www.allreceipies.com and put a food item in the search and then just try a basic recipie.  For example, I was looking for something different to put with baked chicken and it offered some great suggestions.  You might give that a try - they also have great diabeic (ie; no sugar) desert recipies.

Most of my meals are pretty boring and quick because I just don't have much time, but what I can suggest is try planning them out, high fiber, high protein and then add things around that.  For example, I make a mean homemade, low-fat chili, but to change it up some, I might add a splash of egg noodles as a side dish one time and potatoes another or just plain veggies like broccoli.  Another cheat I have is rottiserie (sp??) chicken because you can buy one, bring it home - eat some one night, pull it apart adding cream of chicken and sourcream for chicken enchiladas (with cheese and tortillas) for another night and still take the carcass, boil it and make a great chicken soup for a third night...

Don't know if any of this helps, but I hope it gives you a few new ideas.   Good luck and I know you're not alone out there with this challenge.

me me me!!!!  I am so tired of thinking and planning but if I don't.. i'm in trouble.  tomorrow is potluck at work and I didn't intend to eat there, but I'm just tired of always saying.. "oh no, I can't"..  I eat the same thing all week for all meals.  If I don't, it's like I don't know what to do.

I am trying as well to get different foods.  Somehow I seem to gravitate back to the routine.  I think this would be an excellent challenge for all of us.. How to try at least one thing new every day or week.

Hang in there cuz, umm, your normal, if you consider the rest of us NORMAL...lol

I am 4+ years out and still have to force myself to eat at times.  I don't know what it is to feel true hunger anymore and that's a good thing.  I do tend to eat with my "eyes & head" meaning putting more on the plate that I could possibly eat and then only taking a few bites before getting full.  The one thing that I am adamant about is this...what food I eat, I want it to taste really good.  I can't eat much so I want to enjoy what I can eat.  This all sounds fine except my cooking skills are not the best and eating out is not an option.

As for the water...that's something you don't have a choice about.  Add lime, lemon or something for variety.  I love drinking water because it's the only thing that quenches my thirst and in this heat we all need it.  Fresh, in season fruit is something that I've been craving and eating.  Sometimes some Triscuits, sharp cheddar cheese and some apple can make a great "meal".  I hope you find some options that make you want to nourish yourself.  If you're a good cook go to www.foodnetwork.com and look up recipes because they have some that look absolutely wonderful.

Good luck!
