A little off topic: Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Has anyone had any experience with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?  I'm looking at trying this - they are hormone pellets.  I'm looking at seeing Dr. Reynaldo Sanchez in Dallas and I'd like to hear any feedback.

Thanks

I've never even heard of it.  Sounds interesting.  I just use old fashioned Vivelle dot patches and LOVE them.  I change them twice a week and they're small and stick great.  Cost is very reasonable too with my insurance.

I've been doing it for 3 years and it saved my life.  I had some weight that I was fighting so hard to keep off and it did the trick. It fixed all the stuff actually.  If you do a search on my blog, I did a post about this very thing.  Can I say it again???  SAVED MY LIFE!!!!

I should reread it before I post but I'm running out the door.  I'll check it over to see if I can add more.

This is GREAT information... can you tell me which Doctor you saw?    I see you're in Plano, I'm in Allen (but on the Plano border).  I'm just having a hard time determining which doctor to go to.  Also, do you know if they give you progestrone in your pellet?

No progesterone.  That's the synthetic if I'm correct.  (If I'm not, I'll probably remember by tomorrow) The whole thing is to get away from the synthetic because they are not the same thing our body quit making.  I'm blanking out but it's a cream with 5 things.  Estriol, DHEA, testosterone, and 2 more things.  The testosterone is not enough to make you grow hair or lower your voice.  They regulate all that.  I went to www.tifm.com but I believe the doc you talked about is excellent.  I'd go to him in a second.  I read about this 2 years before I did it and I wish I had done it then but I listened to the nay sayers.  I could write paragraphs about this...I can give you some books to read if you'd like but for many reasons, it is real.  I'm so happy you're checking it out.  I'll expand on that tomorrow!!

I know I'm driving you crazy with questions but your the only person I have found so far that can answer questions for me.   So...

You are NOT using pellet therapy, correct?  You re using creams?

I was really asking about bio-identical pellet therapy but I see that the site talks about "natural creams"...

Please ask as many questions as you like!!

Yes I use a cream with five things mixed for me.  I also take a supplement in pill form but the majority is cream so that it bypasses your liver.  Most of them that I know about are creams but as long as you are getting the natural stuff, that's all good.

I think it progestin??maybe that's in the cream.  I'm not so hung up on exactly what it is because it works so well.

The long and short of it is that the synthetics (like Premarin) is made from pregnant horse urine and does not match the chemicals that we no longer make exactly.  The reason they make synthetics is because they cannot charge the same for natural stuff so the companies like Wyeth are upset by all this.  So much so that they have been trying to sue all the people that are talking about this.  Because of all the controversy they did the study that found out that the synthetics were causing cancer and that's when they pulled all the women off that stuff a few years ago and only let them take small amounts.  I had to educate my PCP and now he's convinced but my OB GYN still digs in his heels even though he has seen the difference.  After my hysterectomy I was in bad shape and had gained back pounds that had previously been manageable.  That's not even talking about the shape my brain was in and the fatigue and all the problems with night sweats and hot flashes.  I have none of that now.  I feel better than I have in ages and it blows me away how my eyelashes just grew back long.  It really is a miracle and you may know that Oprah has gotten on the bandwagon and Dr. Phil's wife has been doing this for years.  That may be good news for some and bad for others but they are all over it.  Please feel free to ask me anything!!

This is what I am starting in a few weeks. The best benefit is that is does reduce your chance of breast cancer. My mom started them after her chemo treatments and she loves them.
