Question For Dr. Castro Patients (Scheduling)

I posted in the past about my nurse friend who was scheduled to have a band put in by Dr. C.   I was amazed that as soon as she had insurance approval, he had her scheduled for surgery on a date just two weeks later.

However, my friend, after additional research, decided she wanted to go with the V.S.G. instead, which Dr. C. also does.  However, she notified his office of this change in plans several weeks ago, and yet they have still not scheduled her for her V.S.G. surgery.

I'm wondering what's going on, and it's frustrating for my friend, esp. since she has to make plans to get time off from work at the hospital for the surgery and her recovery.

Does Dr. C. not do as many VSGs as bands, or does he prefer to do the bands?

My guess would be his office had to reapply to the insurance for the VSG surgery. Once approved you can't just change your mind, the insurance has to agree to pay for the new surgery. Don't know what kind of insurance you have but they may not cover VGS. I's call the insurance company directly and ask.

I wondered if the ins. was the problem, too, Dee ..    They approved her very quickly for her band, and she says they do cover the V.S.G. too, so I don't know ..   Hopefully she'll get good news soon ..

btw, welcome home!     (I didn't get a chance to respond to your earlier post yet   )

Dr. Castro did my re-vision a year ago.  Your friend made
a wise choice. I think Dr. Castro is a wonderful surgeon.
He is so kind and patient-I think he is just the best.
His staff is very helpful and always get back to me
right away.
Your friend should call and ask for Lyndora as she
is the office manager. I know Dr. Castro is in great demand and they
have hired  several more  office staff.
Dr. C is also going to lead the Support Group
tomorrow at 6p. It meets the third Tuesday of each month.
He usually attends unless he is tied up with surgery.
