Just found out I'm pregnant!
O.k..I have't posted or been on this forum in awhile but I need to know what to expect. After being a week late, I decided to take a home pregnancy test last night and guess what...? Yes, those 2 blue lines appeared quite quickly and couldn't possibly get any darker than they did! Just for giggles, took another test this morning and still the same results..I'm PREGNANT.
I was banded 2 years ago and have lost 90 lbs. My weight loss has been stable for about 6 months, now, meaning I haven't lost /gained at all for the past 6 months.
Now, my question to all the female bandsters out there....what can I expect now? Has anyone been pregnant so soon after being banded? Did it affect the pregnancy at all? How about fills?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Ana

CONGRATS!!!
Coordinate your band doc with your OB...make sure both are on the same page with your treatment. Some band docs take fill out a little at a time and some take it all. Sherra was NEWLY banded when she got pg...she's got better info on it. My understanding is you get your fill partially or completely taken out and then start again/pick up where you left off, after you have the baby. Just need to make sure you and the baby get enough calories. You might have to log your intake for awhile to make sure you're getting enough...and TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!!! Ask for liquid ones if you have to. Maybe doubling up on adult chewables will be sufficient. Ask your docs and let them research and decide.
Just don't forget....YOUR BAND IS GOING TO BE WAITING FOR YOU.

I am not banded but had by pass - got pg at a little over a year out - the main thing is not time it is if you are still losing lots or at a maintaince level- you are stable and have been for a while so that is a plus in your favor
couple of things - make sure you do gain SOME weight with baby - it will come back off afterwards - I put on 30 pounds with my pregnacy and all but the last 5 pounds or so came off pretty fast - that 5 pounds is located in my bra I swear to you :) as I am still nursing
if you are having a hard time gaining talk to your doc about an unfill or partial unfill
there is also a pg board that should have good info for you
most important is to find an OB that either has worked with wls pgs or is willing to learn and remember you are the one HIRING and PAYING that doc he works for you if you are not comfortable change docs - army wives move and change OBs all the way up to 38 weeks LOL
best of luck

Home is where the army allows me to live with my husband
I know what I need to do - I have to choose to take care of me or I choose to fail
