Are they ok as long as they are healthy choice, or one of the healthy ones, like Tom Thumbs Eating Right brand?? Healthy Choice has these new frozen Steamers and I would like to try them for lunch at work, since I'm not the BEST cook at this point (working on it!! ) I know I won't eat a whole on, and should eat ALL the protein first,, but just thought I'd get some opinions!!

Thanks Guys!!

STACEY-I use them, though not daily, because the sodium in them bothers ME (but it may not be an issue for YOU). Do look for the ones that have more protein than pasta and mashed potatoes. I like the HC steamers, but be careful of that sauce stuff-it may cause you to dump--best to try them at home first.

AT about 6 weeks post op that is what I ate everyday for lunch at work.  Mind you I couldn't eat the whole dinner for a long while.  I chose the WW dinners that were highest in protein.  There are some healthy choice dinners that I like too.  When I am at work that is still my choice for lunch because they are quick and easy and I won't eat as many calories if I have one of those VS something I might make myself.

Thanks for the feedback ladies!! This is something that I'm going to look into and try. I know I won't be able to eat much, because yesterday I ate a lunchable, with just meat cheese and wheat crackers, and I can only have about 3 crackers with meat and cheese at a time! SO CRAZY!!!

Thanks again!!

When I was working - I used to do the South Beach frozen dinners - they are tasty (as tasty as frozen dinners can be) and have a high protein content.

Kashi frozen dinners are the only ones I can eat.  All of the others have too many simple carbs for me to tolerate.  Alot of times the meat is not tender or lean enough either.  I would say eat the protien part and leave most of the carbs, unless it is a Kashi meal.  Those have whole grain good-for-you carbs and protien.

Love the Cafe Steamers-whole grain pasta and all. I also eat Lean Cuisines.

Hey Stacey,
I eat a lean Cuisine each day for lunch; I keep them between 200-250 on calories; I purchase 5 LC each week, and love them...they are usually the same five because of the Calorie contents...but I love them so it does not bother me...some days I can eat the whole lunch but 90% of the time I can only eat a little more than 1/2 of them...

I get the parmeasan fish, the enchilada, the baked chicken w/ whipped taters, sesame chicken, and the squash ravioli....Yes, I normally eat the protien first~I alway toss my mashed tatars, and noddles and rice after a few bites...LOL

good luck

Kashi and Amys are the only ones I can tolerate.  The carb content on all of the others makes me dump.  I think it's the sugar in the sauces???
