FRIDAY WLS EXPRESS!!!

Good morning everyone!  I'm dragging this morning.  I woke up with a headache - probably something to do with the wine I drank last night.  It doesn't take much post-WLS.  I've not been sleeping well the last few nights and I thought a glass of wine might help.  I did sleep, maybe too hard.  I can't seem to get going this morning.

DH had a follow-up visit with his cardiologist yesterday.  They put him back on a heart monitor until Monday; checking to see if he's in A-fib or not.  If not, we're hoping to discuss taking him off of some of his meds when he goes back next week.  They still can't figure out why he feels bad all the time and has no energy.

Katy (DD) and I had a long talk yesterday about trying to explore some other medical options for DH.  We're thinking we need to take him to a good diagnostic hospital.  We really don't know where to turn.  He's been seen by at least 10 different doctors in the past 2 years with no luck.  We're open for suggestions, if anyone has any.  After that conversation yesterday, I just sat and cried for a while.  It's so extremely frustrating not to know what to do.

Grocery shopping and cooking for the family reunion today.  DH and his brothers are going.  All the wives have begged off this year.

On the good news front, my brother called yesterday to tell me he's having lap band surgery on Wednesday in Denton.  I'm so excited and thrilled to see him taking this positive step.  When I had my surgery, I was really hoping to see my siblings follow in my footsteps.  He has a long history of colon problems and has actually had most of his colon removed.  His surgeon said that this would be a great decision for him.  I've invited him to the TMB, but haven't seen him on yet.  He lives in Justin.  I'm hoping eventually he'll hook up with some of you folks in that area.

Have a great day!
Vicki

Hey Twinkie!

Sorry to hear that hubby isn't feeling better or getting solid answers.  I am reminded of something I've heard that medicine while based in science is still something of an Art and although some health problems have cut & dried solutions some do not and it's more of a trial and error method of treatment.

Keep up the faith!  Change cardiologists if you need to - there is no shame in second opinions!!

{{{HUGS}}} to you and yours!!

You're right about the trial and error part.  If he had changeable parts, they'd just be swapping them out.  It's like having a car repaired except they can't change the parts.  It's definitely a process of elimination.  Don't worry ... we've done the second opinion thing ... heck ... we've done 4th and 5th opinions.  DD and are researching and trying to decide what to do next.   We're thinking we may need to take him to someplace like the Mayo Clinic or Scott-White.  But we're not sure yet what direction to go next.

Hi everybody and TGIF.  I am in the mist of He)) week and this month it does not end until MONDAY...

With all the storms Wednesday I was unable to post about Tom's doc appt.  Took him to see our surgeon and ask about the Rose Procedure we heard about in Galveston.  Dr. G does not think it will work for Tom because the closed off section would not be excised.  It would still secrete acids and probably make Tom's problems worse.  He did agree to do some new studies to see where we are right now and which way we can go from here.  Such is life.

Looking forward to tomorrow, need peep time and I really think it is my turn to win!!!!  We like the road trip aspect of it and I am sure the back roads we take to get there will be beautiful.

Yall have a great one!!
