Indulging hunger
So ever since I got up this morning my stomach has been grumbling hungry. Real hunger with some head hunger thrown in for good measure. I brought my lunch today knowing that they had my favorite Mexican Chicken soup today in the cafeteria, along with my omelet and snacks. Ate my omelet and have been drinking lots of hot tea and water to try to drown the hunger.
I've been hungry even after I've eaten or drank my hot tea. So I went downstairs, got 1 1/2 c of soup and a large container of salad (not to eat all at once mind you). Came back up here and ate about 1/2 of the soup and I'm full and satisfied. I can eat more of the soup later and/or eat my grilled veggies and salad as well.
Phew, sometimes I think it's better to indulge a particular hunger than try to "eat what I should" and fight the head hunger trying to take over. What a difference in my attitude though, before I would have picked the biggest, carbyest (new word), not healthy food I could find, and chances are I still wouldn't have been satisfied.

DEBBI-you made some EXCELLENT points. I remember years ago a WW leader had a class about people playing the "that's not it" game-how we eat AROUND what we really WANT, thus consuming WAY more calories than if we had just eaten a LITTLE of what we really WANTED in the first place..for some reason THAT class stuck with me.
"Carbyest"...love it...may I use your new word????

kris and I were talking about this yesterday - after I got panda express , had less than 10 bites was full and satisfyed the craving - lucky for me my boys will finish off anything I bring home b/c what bugged me was not that I had eaten it, but that I spent $7 on it and ate less than 1/8 of it
4 yrs ago I would have been trying to see if I could aford to go ahead and get the one iwth 3 entrees LOL
yes a lot has changed for us and I agree with Gina - going ahead and eating some of what you are craving is almost always "cheaper" caloricly speaking
