Good News For Wannabe N. Tex. RNs
As folks who are interested into getting into nursing school in Texas recently may have discovered, there are way more applicants than space available, due to the instructor shortage. Channel 4 here reported last night that instructors here (who are required to have at least an MSN) typically are only paid about $40K a year, which is a lot less than they can make working for hosptails.
However, anyone still interested in applying should check out Brookhaven Community College here next semester, as they are about to complete an expansiion project there which will provide room for 10x as many nursing students as before.

If I could I would .. My dad gave me the same "speech" when I was that age (not a nurse, himself, but foresaw what a great career they will have for the future) . buttttt I was dumb and wouldn't listen to him .. I didn't want to deal with the "death, disease, blood & guts" thing while I was so young, healthy and optimistic for life, I guess ..
Now that I"m older, that stuff doesn't bother me in the least .. Not sure why that is .. maybe just part of getting older and more "used" to life?
