freaken crazy texans...lol
We just moved to the austin area from NY, and all I have to say is texans are freaken crazy!!!! What is it with your cliff diving fetish? We went to the local lake and people are jumping off cliffs into the water. We went walking along the river and you guessed it...people were jumping off cliffs into the river. Mind you, this isn't perfectly clear water...all I have to say is ..you jump first, and if you don't die...maybe i'll jump....lol.

It looked like fun...but some of the cliffs were so HIGH! Actually the people at the river were getting tickets because while the river swimming hole is public, the cliffs were on private land, but the lake is fair game. My son wants to do it, so I guess I'm going to have to go with him...oh well bombs away!!!

I was raised in Copiague, graduating in 1969. I loved the winters. That is probably the main thing I miss. I love snow. But be careful down here in it. Texans can not drive in ice or snow (no offense to my Texas friends).
I was never at a loss of things to do on LI. Spent a lot of time at Sagamore Hill.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
yeah well you haven't been on long island for a long time, it's changed SO freaken much, even from when I was young (in the 80s and 90s). Housing prices are absolutely insane, and they can keep the winters. That's the main reason we moved to texas...to escape the winter...and get some summer weather. You know we haven't had a good swim summer in about 3 years in NY. For the last 3 years we've had mostly 70 and 80 degree weather, and lots of rain, I guess it's global warming or something, because it's impossible to heat up a swimming pool in that weather.
Right now I'm loving texas a lot more. I do miss NYC, that was fun, but again fun at an expense. NYC is extremely expensive and any free event (i.e. concerts in the park) get so many people that it doesn't pay to even go. I remember going to an earth day celebration one year, and there were a million people in central park. YUCK!!!! WAY TO crowded.
