Revision from RNY to what????
I'm considering Dr. Stewart for a revision, well I suppose he's considering me also...LOL. I had to send over my Operative Report from my initial Gastric Bypass for him to review before I can make an appointment.
Has anyone had a revision with Dr. Stewart? My first surgery was an open RNY and while I've lost more than 200 lbs, I still have at least 120 more to lose. I started at 484lbs.

Nannetteb,
Over 200 lb weight loss is AWESOME !!!! I do understand though how you must feel with 120 more to loose. I don't know anyone that Dr. Stewart has done a revision on. Dr. David Kim does revisions too. You might check him out. I am one of his patients and he is a awesome surgeon with fantastic support groups. You might want to go to the revision board and ask what others that have had a GB got a revision to. I do know that some get lapband over the pouch for more restriction. That might be a consideration. Good luck with choosing a surgeon.

From what I understand Dr Stewart is an excellent surgeon so I would listen to the options he gives you after he's reviewed your records. I've heard of some doing a sleeve after an RNY and I heard of some just making a smaller pouch with their existing stomach. Either way, good luck and keep us posted.

RNY revision from lapband 7/30/07...TT/BL 10/9/08 and at GOAL
Vivan and Stephanie,
Thank you so much for your response. I've actually talked to Dr. Kim before (Vivian) about a year ago and he wasn't so sure he wanted to revise an open rny.
Dr. Wade (Stephanie) is someone I researched also, just this past week. I saw him featured on "Hot on Health" on Sunday mornings and everything I hear is good.
Again, I'll keep everyone posted and I welcome any input or suggestions about a local surgeon to revise my original rny.
Be Blessed !

I would recommend a revison to the DS. I think Dr Daryl Stewart does the DS and this would be something I would seriously discuss with him. ( I assume that's who you are talking about). I was a revision from a VBG many moons ago and I wouldn't have considered anything else. It was the perfect choice for me and my surgeon agreed. Once you've already had an RNY there really isn't too many options left.

Thank you Melissa. The DS is what I'm seeking..just wasn't sure until I did a little reading last night. I'm just waiting for him to review my operative report and let me know if he thinks the DS would be a good procedure for me. I know some have banded over a RNY, but the thought of getting "fills" is not appealing to me....

I'm not sure if dr. stewart does a RNY to DS revision. It is an extremely difficult surgery, and only a few doctors in the entire country do it. You can check on DSfacts.com or go to the DS forum on OH and just ask. There are tons of OH members that have done the RNY to OH revision, but some of them had to travel to a surgeon out of state.
