Though I am not a kayaker, I used to be an avid canoer. Both are a great workout but please be safe and make sure you always have a buddy and a PFD (personal floatation device-life vest) on. It does not help you if you flip and it is strapped to the boat.
If you are looking for a way to get in good cardio and work the arms and legs then there is no better than, kayaking, canoeing or rowing. And doing it for real is soooo much better than those machines at the gym where you stare at the tv or the walls or other people.
If you really get into this please feel free to pm me and I can give you some great suggesstions for snacks to take with you while you are out. You will be surprised but it is easy to spend 8 hours on the water!
