Nurses or medical types - Hernia question
Ok, first let me start by saying I will be calling my surgeon tomorrow morning.
Question, looks like I have an inguinal hernia in the lower left part of my abdomen. It's bulges when I bear down while standing or sitting and is tender occasionally. So, what I'd like is your opinion on if that something that would HAVE to be repaired before a pregnancy? My PS said yes definitely should be repaired, OB said check with the RNY surgeon so he is my next stop tomorrow. But since I know we've got a bunch of very knowledgeable people here I thought I'd get your opinions as well.
Thanks!

I think it would depend on how "involved" it is--if it is attached t anything...can be "kinked"...stuff like that...I had a killer abdominal hernia when I was aboout 9 months post RNY...the sucker NEVER hurt at all..just looked real ugly.I have another one now--same thing--never hurts. Some people say theirs get real sore all the time. Preganancy puts such a strain on most EVERYTHING, so YES, of course a hernia repair is something you def want to talk to ALL docs about. ..but...I had 2 successful preganancies--both when I was already in my 30s and both at 300+ pounds...so...who the heck knows?????....lol
