LYNNETTE-I hesitated saying anything yesterday..but since you ASKED...what your mom has been doing seems quite "classic" to me...her "burst of energy", wanting to walk, etc...people VERY often do things such as this as part of their "transition time"...much as pregnant women get burst of energy and clean the whole house right before they give birth. I would not be at all surprised if she is progressing onward to Mark. Ask her hospice nurse about what I am telling you. I've just seen it way too many times not to believe it. It is very NATURAL and a PLEASANT time for the patient-it brings them peace. Please do not hesitate to call me.

We Can Do Hard Things
Hey Lynnette-
That sounds like a possible TIA. My guess is something is going on with her frontal lobe because it sounds like motor control issues. Motor control coordinates muscles for picking up your coffee cup, muscles to drink with, and then speech muscles as well, along with lots of other things. Recovery can be a pretty quick thing or it can last for as long as 3-6 months. Call me if you need anything! I can go over dr terminology too if you need some help deciphering an MRI or even something one of the nurses said.
If it gets worse, you could provide her with a board with letters on it so that she can point and spell things out to communicate. Lots of times muscle control issues have nothing to do with intellectual reasoning abilities and patients can be fully intact cognitively but just can't communicate due to motor control.
I'm here for you!
Love you!
