I have been bruising easily lately not even remembering any contact at times. I had labs done recently and I had an appt with my surgeon Saturday. He is going to do a few more labs, but has anyone experienced this and did you find a cause?

I've always bruised easily.  Mine was diagnosed as a Vitamin K deficiency.  I have actually noticed LESS since I had my surgery, maybe it's cuz I take vitamins everyday which I never used to do.

I've always bruised easily but now when I get labs done I can expect a big bruise lasting 2 weeks. When I was in the hospital it looked like someone had beaten my arms with a bat. I also have bruises on my legs from time to time andI don't remember running into things or anything like that.
I've never thought to ask the doctor, but let me know what yours says.

It could be just due to aging, as we get older we are more prone to bruising.  Also, malnutrition can cause brusing, along with B-12, folic acid, C, and K vitamin deficiencies.  Get these checked and get copies of your labs to see yourself what the results are, not just what your doc says; they don't worry until it's sometimes more severe where you can work on increasing your vitamins before it becomes a problem.

Darrell,
Ask for a copy of your labs and compare them to your pre-op labs.  I did that and starting taking B-12.  Patel is pretty good about addressing your issues/concerns, or atleast I think he is.

You are doing great!!

I bruise easily too.  Even though my B-12 came back "normal," I have since found out that you can have a B-12 deficiency while still being in the range the labs call normal.  I think my low B-12 was probably the culprit.

Lord, I don't so much bruise that i see, but I FEEL it and it doesn't go away.  where I bumped my leg a month ago on the foot of the bed is still sore.

And the other is the thin skin and bleeding by just itching or scratching my skin.  It is mainly located on my forearms.  When my puppy touches me with nails it rips the skin and it bleeds and bleeds.  So I put a good bandaid on it.  then when I tried to get hte bandaid off, it caused more under skin bleeding..
OY...

So it's Vitamin K that might be the problem?? I was thinking E and D.. I will look into K.

Thanks for the question Darrell and you are doing amazingly well.. Congrats!
