minus half a stomach!!  My surgery was uneventful. I ended up not leaving the hosp until about 7:30 because my blood pressure was really high.  I suspect it was that high because the nurses did not keep my pain under control.  I was not very impressed with the staff at the brand spanking new private hospital.

Besides that, I am doing great.  I am not having any problems getting liquids in.  In the last hour, I've had about 12 oz and 20g of liquid(water and protien bullet mixed) and half (4oz) cup of coffee.  Now I am going to take a nap.  Although, all I've done is sleep since I got home.  I went to bed at 8 last night and about 11:30 this morning my husband told me I had to get up and drink.  But I've been a good girl and everytime I woke up last night, I walked and drank.

Pain is doing good.  Yesterday, i felt like I got run over like a bus.  Today it just feels like I did too many sit ups.  I only took some liquid lortab last night, but none so far today.

Glad to hear you're home safe and sound.  I'm sure it will take a while for the new center to "work the kinks out" but I'm sorry to hear it was at your expense.  Pain meds should ALWAYS be a nurse's top priority.

I know nothing about your type of surgery so I have to ask...is coffee OK?  I know with the RNY, Dr Barker says you aren't supposed to have caffeine at all for the first month and very limited after that.  Good job on the liquids and walking.  Keep us posted and feel free to ask any questions.

I think that he must have changed his mind since you had your surgery with him.  Coffee is listed for the liquid portion of the diet, he says just to have it in moderation because of the caffiene.

This is from his post op instructions:

Liquid Diet Suggestions:

-coffee (caffine should be kept to a minimum) and fruit juice
-crystal light and koolaid
-diet drinks, no carbonation for 1st month
-broth
-popsicles
-nectar protien

I always worry about people and pain in the hospital.  I was so lucky.  I had read online about the hospital I was using and this one nurses name kept coming up in the great reviews I was reading.  I just prayed I would get her.  When I was coming out of anesthesia guess who was there??  NURSE JEWEL!!!  I was still drugged up and told her I couldn't believe she was my nurse.  She looked at me so funny and asked if we knew each other.  I told her no but I had read all about her on the internet and had prayed that God would make her my nurse and he had.  Well needless to say I didn't lack for anything that night.LOL  I remember her telling the other nurses that she was on the internet.LOL

I'm glad your home and on your way to losing.  Things will get better everyday.  If you have any questions just ask.  Take that pain medicine if you need it.  Keep resting because your body has been through alot.  The first 48 hours I was home all I did was sip walk and sleep.
