Feeling very tired today!!

So gang, I went back to work this week and next tuesday will be 3 weeks since surgery. I came back after 2 weeks... I have been feeling ok and even getting in extra walks... we are doing the global corporate challenge at work, so we are encourged to walk at least 10, 000 steps a day with equals about 5 miles.... Wednesday was the best day of the week for me! I felt great and had lots of energy and I walked about 10,347 steps... yesterday I couldn't walk as much because I've been working out my calfs everynight annd was very sore, but still managed to get in about 6,000 steps.... today I woke up and it was really hard to pull myself out of bed.  I usually feel this way ever morning, but then when I have my protein shake, I am feeling much better... so I did my normal routine and had my shake, and got to work, drank a bottle of water and about 30 minutes ago, had my second protein shake of the day... I took all my vitamins in the proper way, waiting the 2 hours, and I'm still feeling super tired. I just want to go home and go to bed. I don't really feel sick or anything, just SUPER tired... after I posted earlier in the week with my schedule, I have been getting all my protein every day plus some... 66 grams total every day! I have also been working very hard to get my 60 oz of liquid each day, but ontop of the protein and then trying to eat my soft food meals, it is VERY difficult this early out, but I'm getting at least 50 oz, which Dr. Thompson said was ok... a minimum... I've been making sure to walk everyday, while trying not to over do myself... I think it's just the toll of coming back to work... I think it will take some time to not be tired at least once a week. I guess all I can do is try to get lots of rest this weekend! I only have to work a 4 day week next week, because I'm off work every other Friday! I just hope I stop feeling so tired!!!!! Sorry for the complaint, but I'm really just trying to stay awake at work. I have been getting at least 6 hours of sleep each night and last night I got 7.5 hours! BOO!!!

Thanks for reading!!!

I went back to work at 2 weeks also and had tons of energy those two weeks.....week 3 - 8 for me were the worse, super exhausted and nauseated allot.  It gets better just keep getting in your liquids and protein.......don't overdo the exercise right now Stacey your body needs to heal.

Thanks Dana!!! I know I need to be careful with working out. I get so excited to get back into the gym and I might over do it. I know it will get better. I just don't want to be this tired all the time. LOL. I live a very busy life. I will just keep up with my working and not over do just because of the challenge!! I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing, because for the first time I feel like I'm doing everything right!!!

You probably need more sleep.  Your body is healing from a major surgery, plus you are loosing weight, eating less, and exercising alot.  You are going to need extra sleep for a while.  After your body heals and adjusts, you can go back to 7 hours a night.  It's ok to take naps after work or go to bed early.

What you are going through is all very normal.  Your body is in a literal state of starvation and doesn't know how to cope.  It's used to a LOT more calories (energy) to fuel it and keep it running.  Now you are "starving" it of that energy so it's just shutting down to conserve that energy.  Hope that makes sense (I'm cooking and typing at the same time).  Be patient and I hope you have an understanding boss cuz it will be weeks before you're back to normal.  BTW, you are doing a FANTASTIC job on your protein and water, keep it up.

Thanks for the advise and info. girls!!!!

Steph, thanks so much!! I don't feel normal right now, so I'm glad to know for us that it is normal... I have such an understanding boss!! She actually told me that if I need to work from home 1 day a week or something we could probably work something out....

As the day has gone on, I am not feeling as tired in the eyes as I was!!! I am going to go home a nap today and see if that helps.. not a long 2 hour nap, but just a quick power nap! Hopefully that will help! I'm also going to start trying to go to bed a little earlier... I don't want to cut back on my walking, because it helps so much with the gas, and really just helps me get back out there!!! I normally don't walk more then 30-45 minutes at a time... and I def. don't push myself harder then I can go!!!

Thanks for letting me know this is normal! I will work with it!!! I am also going to try some harder foods this weekend!! Kinda nervous about that!!! I just have to remember to go SLOW because I used to eat so fast, that even slow for me, isn't slow... I'm getting sick of jello, pudding, cottage cheese, beans, mashed potatoes and oatmeal! LOL!!!! Still on my list of goodies, but I'm ready to try the next step and go right off of what Dr. Barker says to do!!! I'm going to try some strips of chicken tomorrow!! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!!

ALSO steph, thanks for the compliment!!!!

I try really hard with these, because I know they are so important! I don't want to become dehydrated!! also, it helps me always have a sense of fullness so when I do eat my meals, I'm not going to be eating as much... even when I'm more normal I want to keep up this routine!
