Self Pay? Everything Up Front? Cash Discount?

Two questions..

1. When you self pay... do they want everything the day of surgery? or does the hospital bill you? Does the doc bill you?

2. Has anyone attempted getting a cash discount if not paying with cc? if coming in with a cashier's check or cash?

I think I'm going to be doing Dr. Davis at university general. They weren't sure of the new Memorial Herman price yet...

For me and my hubby all payments had to be made before surgery.  As for cash discounts, the cash price they are quoting you is what they consider a "cash discount".  The price whether paid in cash, money order, or credit card will probably be the same price.

They'll end up saving like 3-7% depending on their merchant account... if a person pays in cash, cash... so that blows.

Oh well.. it's worth a shot to ask :)

I wasn't cash pay for my WLS, but for my plastics, it had to be paid in full 2 weeks prior to my surgery date.

If you are using a card make sure you use one with great rewards.  Sig other paid for hers, WLS and PS, and had oodles and oodles of Delta Ski Miles we used going to Vegas last November.

I wasn't cash pay but I still had to have my surgeons part paid by the week before surgery.
