Finally- A protein Shake I can handle! WAHOO!
Ok, so, I had my surgery on April 30. Since then I have very little that I can tolerate, even water makes me sick. I am 5 weeks out, I lost 24lbs, and nothing in 2 weeks. I keep hearing it is because I am not getting enough calories , I am getting about 100 or less a day because I cannot eat anything , OR DRINK! I have been having a really hard time getting ANY protein in because everything is making me sick-sick-sick! I cannot even take a sip without it bouncing in my stomach like a ping pong ball and trying to come back up! Uggh.
So..........where does that leave me...............
Yesterday, my wonderful husband (who just came back from his deployment and was very concerened about my health- poor guy), took me to GNC and bought a whole bunch of premixed protein shakes in the bottles. He made me try each one (SLOWLY), and determine which one I can handle. So I was able to handle, with ease, the OH YEAH! Choclate Milkshake (www.ohyeahnutrition.com ) and it did not make me sick and it did not taste bad! YAY!! So he bought 3 cases, LOL. About time, eh? So I hope that I can start losing again and abondon this stall that is depressing the crap out of me.
However, on the bright side, although my scale has not moved in 2 weeks, I was able to fit in a size 14 skirt that I had in my closet! It was a tight fitting skirt on my before, and I wore it after I had my first son and lost all that baby weight, but then I started working nights and eating dinner at midnight put all that weight back on! It was a great moment to wear that skirt! I was an 18 when I started my WLS adventure a few months ago, now a 14 and the scale has not moved! But I see inches being lost. Darn scale!
Thanks for listening to me ramble & brag!!! It was my first *WOW* Moment!

Thanks. I did not take my measurements before surgery but my doctors office did. I can probably call them and ask. I am anxious to know!

I've tried the Oh Yeah drinks and the chocolate I agree is very good.
Not getting in enough calories will definitely stall you but also MANY of us experienced the same thing as you on week 3, it's pretty common. Your body is in shock and trying to hold on to all the weight it can, think of it as a famine (your body doesn't want to starve to death). It will let go though, give yourself a couple of weeks. Keep pushing your liquids and protein, walking, and if you haven't take your measurements yet do so today. You are probably losing inches even though the scale hasn't moved.

THANKS! I am glad to hear it is common at this point, you don't know how scared I have been. I keep thinking I "Failed" and that surgery is not working for me. LOL. I know it sounds silly, but I have been entering the stage of mass paranoia. I have really been going crazy. I watch the scale like crazy- I know, I know, I can't do that, but I am so upset that I am not losing. I feel like I failed and it sucks. I am trying to think positive but it is hard. I will measure today. I really want to know. It still blows my mind that I can lose inches and the scale not budge, LOL. It seems crazy. I know it happens though, but it just seems funny. Thank you for the help!! I am sooooooooooooo glad to know it is common for week 3.

I have had problems with even water making me feel icky. But I started drinking MetroMin****er, and it is great. It is jus****er, mint, and some extra flavor in some of the waters. It's not sweet. The mint just makes my mouth and stomach happy. Mint decaf tea would probably be as good. There is just something about the mint. Also, the mint makes the water taste almost cold, even when you drink it at room temp, and I sometimes have trouble drinking cold water, but room temp water isn't normally good. These are good at all temps.
