OT: Anyone ever been to the Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas?
If they like digging in the dirt and gettng grimy for some pretty rocks, it's great! :)
My suggestion would be Hot Springs. They have an awesome science museum there and the tower is really cool! There is also an amusement park, wax museum, the Duck ride, Bath House Row and some pretty interesting history.
I used to live in NW Arkansas. If you like state parks, Devil's Den is pretty neat and has some really cool caves. War Eagle Mill near Springdale is kinda cool too. Eureka Springs is a lot of fun to look around in. Pea Ridge is a Civil War battlefied. The whole area up there is pretty cool and you can find some interesting things to do.
Have a great time on your vacation!

Kris - we went as a family - year and years ago. Kids had a great time, diggging is fun and when you find something - wow - really a prize - but, all I really remember was the heat! Beaming sun and hot - we went the first 2 weeks in July and cooked. (that is all ways vacation time at my husbands company and it was always way too hot!) Gaye
Life is what you make of it! Enjoy when possible.
Tom and I went with our Boy Scout Troop. UMMM, if you are planning on the summer it will be hot and dirty. We went during Spring Break and camped at the park.
One of our leaders did find a 1.5 Carat Diamond.....
I would suggest Hot Springs over The diamnod fields.
They have a Mid-America museum that is all kid friendly an my boys really loved it when we spent time there. There are a lot of things to do in the Hot Springs area
