Not WLS related Renting a RV

We are wanting to rent a RV and go on a vacation for about 5 to 7 days. We will go within a boarder state or deep south Texas area. I googled it. WOW.. I can't believe they want anywhere from $200.00 to $350.00 a day to rent a RV. Once you pay for the gas, the fee to stay in the parks, the daily entry fees,,,,, you could stay at the SainLouis Resort.. lol lol     We don't want to do the 5th wheel or camper thing. We really want to do the RV thing.
Question is does anyone know of any discounts or good places that give you a good rate to rent RVs?? I hate it when you go out and do something, post about it, then people chime in and tell ya "You should have gone here and done this and gotten this great rate."
Thanks for any input... As always you are always the most wise peeps I know..

Wow, I didn't know they were that expensive.  We used to have a travel trailer and loved it as long as we didn't go to far from home.  Sometimes it's not worth all the driving when you could get there in a couple of hours by flying.  Hope someone can point you in the right direction.

They are definitely expensive.  We looked into renting one for NASCAR weekend before we bought our fifth wheel.

I think I remember seeing a place in Burleson Friday that RV rentals, but I can't remember the name .... it was on Hwy 174 does that help? LOL

Kathy  ..  there used to be (and it may still be there, I don't know for sure) a good place to rent all kinds of used RVs across the lake from me off I-30 in Rockwall ..   I wish I could remember the name or the exact address ..

You might try Googling that info or even taking a drive across the lake and keep an eye out for it (I think it is on the southern side of the highway) ..

WOW!!  That is really high!  We are renting a car this week for our vacation.  I was going to rent a small SUV but they wanted almost twice as much as a car plus the gas......ugh!!  We decided on just the car.................

I told Brian the cost of everything we could have went to a 5 star all inclusive resort....lol!!

Hope you find a good deal!

I don't know anything about "renting" RV's BUT, if u do get one and come DEEP south texas, u could park it at Isla Blanca RV Park on South Padre Island, its only 47.00 a night for the spot...and u are within walking distance to the beach, schlitterbahn and some of the BEST seafood in the gulf coast.

I have coupons for shclitterbahn that are 50% off. (I have about 15 coupons)  U would only pay 20.00 to get in for the WHOLE day! and u could bring a cooler with food and drinks.

Let me know if you come way down to my neck of the woods, I would DEF take a couple of days off to show u my slice of heaven. lol

Hugs,
Monica

Kathy,
Try looking for RV rentals closer to your destination.  You can save a ton of money for gas or diesel if you drive your own vehicle down there and often, the RV place will stock it for you before you arrive.  Then you have a car for the smaller trips to the grocery and the beach.

If you aren't familiar with RVing and are wanting to drive a motor coach, they can be fun or difficult, depending on how you handle things ie. stress.   If you are willing to drive there you can be more flexible on the type of RV and it's availability; 5th wheel, TT or Motorcoach.

I've rented all kinds of RVs...Motorcoaches and Travel Trailers and always prefer the destination to  the journey.  I even own a TT now.  If you aren't used to driving a 30+ foot  "home on wheels" it takes a lot of getting used to.  You can't just pull in to any exit on the interstate because of space, parking and turn around radius.  It pretty much leaves you to truck stops and travel centers for all your needs.

I hope you find the bargain you are looking for.  Enjoy your family vacation.
