1. What are/were your comfort foods? I have 3 really.

One is Salmon Patties, ahh the simpleness of crackers, salmon and eggs. The other is breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches. For the life of me I have not found this south of Branson but get Indiana and Illinois this is on the menu of almost any burger joint. Simply put it is a chicken fried pork loin and considering us Texans will chicken fry anything I do not know why we can't find it down here. The last is broiled Spam sandwich on a rainy day preferrably with tomato soup

2. What have you found that is a healthier replacement for that food?

Still working on a healthier Salmon patty but for most part am going to switch to pouch over can salmon even though it will drive Alissa out of the house and use whole wheat bread crumbs with a scooch of cornmeal. For the tenderloins, we have switched to a thicker piece of meat for better protien, whole wheat flour and whole wheat crackers plus tossing the bun. As for the Spam not sure what I can do, Spam is Spam and well best not be bringing me that lower sodium or turkey spam. I want my spam smoked and broiled or at least grilled with a big bowl of soup when I have the sniffles and nothing else will do.

Sister Sara...I'm right there with you! I couldn't care less about sweets, I wanted CFSteak, baked potatoes filled with most anything!

1.  What are/were your comfort foods?

But my main 'comfort' was laziness. The fatter I got the more my knees and back hurt the less grocery shopping or going out I did. DH would shop, and he did a pretty good job, but after a few weeks there were huge holes in the 'staples' you need around the house. So eventually it was just easier to drive through Sonic or Jack in the box...or anywhere that would even come out to the car! For a while we would get the salads but sitting in line waiting to order, staring at all the pictures of burgers and fries, egg rolls, chili cheese dogs, etc....and you KNOW the food NEVER looked or tasted as good as those pictures! So there I was eating burger and fries every day for dinner and sometimes again for supper. Any question where the fat came from?!?!

2.  What have you found that is a healthier replacement for that food?
We now go to the story regularly on certain days and buy what we need, even if it's only fresh fruit and veggies. We do still rely on Lean Cuisine and WW dinners for the convenience for lunches but I prepare something for supper every night. I'm down to one Sonic med Dt. Coke a day. Monday is my final quit day! We have a 1/2 gal pickle jar we are using for a piggy bank to pay for our next dive trip....the money we would have spent on cokes every day goes in the jar. Sometimes over $6 a day!

1.  What are/were your comfort foods? For me comfort foods were anything I could eat while snuggled up on the sofa watching tv... ice cream, cookies, chips/dip... stuff like that.  I have always been an emotional eater.... and I have found that I have been able to conquer most of my bad habits except for stress eating which can be my demon especially at work.

2.  What have you found that is a healthier replacement for that food?
I have a few protein bars like the Twisted pretzel bars that I get at Sams.... but other then that I haven't really found anything.

Well I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have changed my eating habits and yes I do miss my comfort foods, but the more weight I lose the more I realize I can do without them.

1.What are/were your comfort foods?
My comfort foods were chocolate, pretzels, ice cream, cake, and basically anything that wasn't good for me.

2.  What have you found that is a healthier replacement for that food?

Now my comfort foods are SF Jello pudding cups, cheese, peanut butter. and my chocolate protein shakes.   I have learned that cheese is low in carbs high in protein and quite filling.  Oh, I know I am going to miss my pretzels and chocolate candy, but I'm not going to miss those pounds that I have lost or that I am going to lose.
I have 9 days till my surgery and I can't wait to start losing all the weight and be on the loser bench with all of you.

1.  What are/were your comfort foods? My comfort food was frozen yogurt. Cookies and Cream was my favorite and I would have some almost every night.

2.  What have you found that is a healthier replacement for that food? After surgery, I became mostly lactose intolerant. Cheese is the only dairy I can eat. Yogurt, milk, sour cream, cream cheese all make me ill. I tried the Soy Dream soy frozen yogurt and started dumping after the second teaspoon. So, that's just not something that fits into my life anymore. For evening sweet treats, I used to go to SF popsicles, but I've barely eaten those in the last year, either. My tastes have just changed.
