Not QOTD but let's play - Most Amazing Wow Moment
There are 4 sisters and 2 brothers in my family. Five of us have always been morbidly obese. For a long time, I was the biggest of all. You may know how competitive sisters can be. For some reason my youngest sister and I were always highly competitive with each other. Frankly, she was always kind of a b*tch about being smaller than me. It was so blatant that other people noticed and commented from time to time. In 2003, she moved to Tennessee which caused us not to see each other for several years. About six months after my WLS in 2006, she moved back to Texas.
We were to see each other for the first time at a hospital in San Antonio where our other sister's husband was having heart surgery. As usual, I was late arriving and they had already gone back into the pre-surgery area when I got there. I called her on my cell phone and she came out to meet me in the hall to show me the way back to the room. When I came up to her in the hallway, she walked right past me. That's right, she didn't even recognize me. I turned around and called her name and she stopped and did a double take. Her mouth fell open and she could hardly speak. I'm telling you it was priceless!
It stands out in my memory as my favorite and most amazing wow moment. Tell me about your favorite or most amazing wow.

I had this happen again recently in a training session - someone came up to me and said there was another girl named Terry that used to do the training for this contract but she moved out of state and did I know her......I pulled out my album and said, do you mean her? Then I flipped thru the pictures to my now picture.
Absolutely priceless!!!
and I LOVE your story, twinkie!!

I have a couple of "wow" moments but the most incredible WOW moment I had occurred on November 21, 2008-- Finishing my first 5K walk/run with some of the juvenile probationers I worked with. And, for the FIRST time since I was 11 years old- I think, I was ABLE TO SLIDE down the SLIDE at the park...
I would post the finish line, but due to confidentially I can't post the 'picture' with the juveniles.
But, here I am sliding, and I fit!!!
Blane and the boys were in the backyard and I had been cleaning house all day. I was in a t-shirt, sweats, hair a total mess, and no makeup. I went outside to hang the mop to dry and call it a day. When I walked outside with the BIGGEST smile I'ver ever seen on Conner's face (5 years old then) he looked at me and said "Mommy you are beautiful" then ran up to me and gave me a huge hug......thanks for this post Vicki I've got tears in my eyes again....I'll definitely cherish this memory forever.
BTW I was about 10 lbs from goal weight here. My boys have looked at old pictures of me before surgery and neither remember we being MO.

hey vickie,
great story. mine is similar... My older sister is anorexic and due to some of her actions i absolutely cannot stand her. I havent seen her in a few years (pre WLS) and she did see me briefly (less than 5 min) after about 100lb loss but not since. A few months ago, i had to suck it up and see her for my neices sake. It was VERY nerve racking for me and i dreaded it for a long time leading up to then. Well her and her hubs jaw dropped about 10 feet, but of course neither could say a word about it the entire weekend. What was hysterical to me was all her friends that knew me before kept telling me how amazing i looked and how fabulous I looked. Of course i was dressed to the 9's all weekend lol.
Shame sisters have to be so damn *****y!

When I was born, I cried and the world rejoiced. Now i wanna live my life so that when I die, the world cries and I rejoice
My biggest WOW moment was when I could go out in public and not worry on how I was gonna wipe my a**. I had for years planned my days around my BM's so I could shower right after because I couldnt reach around (no comments Rusty)!!! It was great to be able to use a public bathroom and clean myself.... they must of thought I was loco when I was screaming in the stall (again, no comment Rusty)!!!
