My bosses lastest diet... anyone heard of this?

so after all the other diets and doing do well on Weigh****chers losing about 30, my boss has decided to try something that is beyond weird to me.  I say it's bogus, but i'm sure many of you in larger cities have seen this.

She is going to something called 'Medcenter" or something like it.  Actually my WLS surgeon has rented out part of his office for this same thing in Seguin.

She goes in every week for b-12 shots and an appetite suppresant (some name I have never heard).  And she is told to eat 1200 to 1350 calories a day..   Well, DUH,   going from 3500 plus a day to 1200 is gonna make you lose weight.. She is also told to start with 3 oz of protein in the morning and lunch and dinner are 3 to 4 oz of lean protein and 5 servings vegetables at each meal.

So what the heck is the b-12 for and the appetite suppresant for?  I didn't want to tell her that I do my own b-12 every week.

Anyone else heard of this 'scam' or what to you think?

This si just SOS in a new package!! Eat less, eat protein, eat more veggies! B12? They pay the doc for a shot and the office visit! Appetite suppressant-patient expects to "feel different and that will do it! Same basis for every "diet program out there!

I can't say it's scientific by any means, but when I was losing, I always lost more the weeks that I did my B-12 shot (I'm a 2x/month girl). Plus, the energy boost may encourage her to exercise therefore aiding in her weight loss as well.

my b-12 is every 10 days to 2 weeks depending on when I remember and I sure can feel it if I forget.  I don't see a real weight difference but it sure keeps me from dragging.

I do understand the energy boost, but to me it's the same as any dexatrim, hydrocut, whatever name to put on it.  Every single one says.. 'must follow a low calorie.. blah blah blah"  and folks think it's the pills that are causing the weight loss. I am sure the b-12 and 'appetite suppresant' aren't hurting but it sure seems a waste of money at $30 a week, or whatever it is.

She did say.. "you will laugh at me but I just have no dedication."..  so we will see.  She really was doing well on Weigh****chers.

I know you are right, Paul, in that lots of folks need something and someone to literally guide them and help them.

I feel like it's a cop out in that the program that my SURGEON has in his office does not have a food restriction or eating program.  It is all suggested.    The one here in town now is new.

I guess it is because I have learned after 8 stints on weigh****chers starting at age 7, two nutrisystems, a Jenny Craig and everything in between, including one where I ate protein pudding for six months (looked great until I ate a bite of food), a stomach stapling and on an on, I KNOW now I have to be the one to learn what I need to eat and my tool is just that.  Maybe the b-12 and appetite suppresant helps in their mind... but if she just did the diet and saved her money, the appetite would be suppressed because of the protein.

I guess I just feel for her because she will follow and pay until she tires and it's more of a struggle to plan and try to be compliant when she goes to San Diego for 3 weeks and then it's Ice Cream city.

I will jus****ch and help and support her.  Sometimes learning lessons and then trying to pass them on just doesn't have the results we hope.

Becky, it's not new; our neighbor in Houston did this about 4 years ago and it's very popular right now in Lake Charles.  I'm not exactly sure what the plan is suppose to be but I have seen some people here lose with it.  The question is how long will they keep it off?  BTW, they weren't/aren't MO.
