Houston Suregon suggestions.

YEAH!!!!  I changed insurance to BCBS PPO and according to my policy WLS IS covered (if you meet certain requirements... which I do)!!!!

The only problem is if I search for a surgeon on their web site, it returns with no bariatric surgeons in a 100 mile radius.  This is not entirely true because if you put Dr. Garth Davis in the search with no specialty.... he does come up as a covered provider only not classified as bariatric but rather under general surgery.  I have a friend that had her surgery through him and LOVES him, but I have heard that he can be rather difficult to get an appointment with.  I have been to his seminar ( 2 years ago) and I called to get an appointment, but got the sorry we are closed message.   I was going to ask if I have to do the seminar again or if I could just make an appointment.

I looked up Dr. Speigel (mom had her surgery done with him)  and Dr Spivak up on BCBS and they are not covered providers.  Does anyone else have any surgeons in the Houston area they can recommend?  I will admit that Dr Davis is my preferred surgeon, but I am open to suggestions.  I really would like to be able to do this by the end of the year.

Dr Garth is THE MAN!  I've never had trouble getting an appointment with him. Did they say why they are closed? Are you calling his NEW office?

Maybe it was lunch time and they close the office.   I did get a hold of them ( incase they were closed for lunch).  I did have to do the seminar again.  I am scheduled for Wednesday 6/3 6:30 pm.

Definitely Dr. Davis or Spivak over Dr. Speigel, just my personal thoughts based on family members experiences.  I will shut up now before I express to much of my feelings.

Garth Davis, Erik Wilson or Terry Scarborough [don't know if I spelled that last one right] would be my Houston choices in that order if I had to start all over.

I travelled from San Antonio (because of BCBS) so that Dr Erik Wilson could do my surgery! I love him! He is patient and listens. He is funny and he does Lapband, RNY, DS and is doing a study for a new kind of WLS. He was the absolute right choice!

I don't come over here very often, cuz I barely have time to keep up with R&R, but I was looking for info on the surgeon that is going to do my GB surgery (he is a bariatric surgeon also,) but I couldn't find him, so oh well.
