I have a question...is there any truth to the needing bariatric vitamins and stuff or will regular adult vitamins be enough? I was looking on one website and it said that we need vitamins for people who have had bariatric surgery.  Is this ture or just a ploy to tap into a new market? Also what are the best types of proteins and vitamins to take? Do I start taking the vitamins the day I come home? DO I wait a week? I am a little over whelmed at the requirements but I know I can handle it if I am informed and have a daily plan for after surgery.

Tonya, if you'll scroll down there have been several posts over the past few days specifically addressing your questions.  That way you'll get lots of answers.  Personally I take Non-bariatric vitamins.  You have to compare what's in the ones you want to take with the bariatric ones.  Ask your doctor for his recommendation on when to start taking them and how much.  Each doctor is different.  There's also several posts on protein and people's favorites.  It's usually a matter of personal taste.

Your dr. or nutritionalist should give you a list of things they want you to take.  They did for me on my visit with the nutritionalist prior to having my surgery scheduled.  They wanted me to have time to check out the different ones on the market and they even gave me samples.  I chose Bariatric Advantage because they taste good, they are chewable, and a the dr and nutritionalist says their patients have excellent labs when they take them.  That was good enough for me.

The dr or nut should give you a list of what they want you to take.  I have to admit at the beginning I wasnt very good about taking them or had trouble with certain vitamins.  When I got my first set of labs done and my levels were great I went ahead and ordered from BA.  They have free shipping and auto re-fill, means I dont have to remember to go to the store and buy them........lol!!  It was just easier for me and I dont have a problem with any of their vitamins.

You will get so many different opnions on here but people give you great ideas of where to buy things.  Just scroll through the post and see what peoples answers are!

Good luck to you but remember listen to what your dr wants you to do!
