I did see this really cute dress and I wanted it so bad, but they didnt have my size.
In your whole life nobody has ever abused you more than you have abused yourself, and the limit of your self abuse is exactly the limit of abuse that you will tolerate from someone else.

Oh my gosh!  I saw the cutest dresses in the women's department at Macy's last week.  Go shopping and find that dress for your grandmother's party!!

Julie, what a WONDERFUL story!!  Maybe your calling in life is to write a children's story called the "Happy Dress"...just a thought for your "in between jobs" time off.

You're the third person in the last 5 weeks to tell me that I should be writing. The other two wanted me to write books more in line with Jen Lancaster (Bitter is the New Black, Such A Pretty Fat, etc.).

The first person that said it was my stepsister and I kind of blew her off. But you and the second person that told me, I respect your opinions. I just have no idea how to get a book deal, so it seems really scary and foreign.

I like Jen Lancaster! And I think your happy dress could turn into a great kids book even.

Unfortunately I have no idea.  I believe you "write" the story and submit it to various book publishers and if you're VERY lucky it will fall into the right hands.  You could also try publications like Reader's Digest as I know they buy stories.  Might be worth a little reaseach to see how to proceed cuz I just LOVE that story.  P.S.  I bought my own form of a happy dress tonight...my first EVER 2 piece bathing suit!!  Now I may not leave the privacy of my own backyard but dammit I bought it and it fits!!

What a great story, Jen.  I'm going to find my own "Happy Dress" -  it might not be a dress, but it'll be happy happy happy!

As long as you are comfortable with yourself you go for it. My son always teases me because I don't leave my house unless everything with me is in order (now that's just me). I tell him you never know who you might meet (my knight and shining armor may be waiting on me) . But he just laughs even at home i'm the same way. It's all about being in a comfort zone and this is mine.
