So, how was your Memorial Day.  You probably all think mine sucked, because my Rangers took an old fashioned butt whupping.  But really, it did not.

I left work two hours early so I could get some sleep.  Got home at 5:15, went to sleep near 6.   Got up at 8:30 to go to the game.  Got there a little after 10, went in and put my stuff at my seat.  Went out to the concert area to listen to Brandon Rhyder.  I am not a big country fan, so after 3 songs, I was out.  All three songs were about him losing his girlfriend in one way or another.  That boy is depressed.

Then the  fan experience and the game.  A very nice gentleman from NY sat next to me and we talked the entire game.  I almost got in a fight with a Rangers fan sitting in front of me because of his profanity.  I asked him to please watch his language there are ladies and kids around.  He swore again, and stared at me.  I calmly said "I asked nice."  He just stared at me the rest of the game.  And he had to turn around to do it.

Anyway, we lost 11-1.  But it is only one game.  At the end of the season, this game does not matter.  What matters is the game you lose 4-3 and had a runner on 3rd with no outs and didn't score.  Or the game you led 3-2 and your relief pitcher gives up 2 runs for a loss.  This game..... just a butt whuppin'.  Nothing else.  Tomorrow is another game.

Enough babbling by me.

Prayer requests are listed below.

I do ask that you keep me updated on requests.  Often.  Please.

Also, please feel free to just visit here.  Tell us about how your day went.  Your successes.  Your failures.  Your fun.  Whatever.  When I post this thread, I do not have access to any chat programs, so this sometimes substitute as that vessel for me.

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT:

Avis
James - Phyllis' "friend"
Jennifer
- (Cruise Director Julie)
Nina

Those who are not yet unemployed, but layoffs are looming

Anne -(Lalocaweta) - Please pray for her as she undergoes treatment for a medical problem she is facing.

Cindy Mc - a coworker has a 5 yr old son who was diagnosed at 3 with Metastatic Retinoblastoma.  He lost his right eye, but through chemo and radiation it was thought the cancer was gone.  It is back and spreading in his brain.
There is no cure and they are treating him with some oral Chemo medication right now. I am just asking that you pray for Isaac Xavuer Vasques-Grimmett. He is a precious little boy who has been through a whole lot of difficult times in his 5 short years. We are praying for a miracle but if we can't get that... For God's mercy and grace to keep this precious little boy and his family from suffering too much. Update:  Isaac did not qualify for the program they were attempting to go to at St Jude's.  Please continiue prayers.

Dana - requests prayer for her family.

Debra - has been put on no work by doctor due to memory loss that is related to recent hospitalization.  Also, with the no work comes less pay.  Prayers for the financial side of the situation.

Gina J. - Pray for her 6 year old Marina, diagnosed with a terminal illness at age 2.
She has improved, but still needs our prayers.  Pray for this brave little girl.

Janet (1divaatheart) says her husband's tumor is shrinking (Praise God!).  Pray for her family as they deal with the passing of her father (5/17).

Karen (Misty750342002) - A friend of Karen's from work (who is like a son to her), Dustin Murphy, is 24 years old and has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease.

Prplecat asks prayer for her health battles as well as the family's move to Wichita Falls.

Vicki V.  - husband Patrick continues to have health problems.  Update on Patrick.  His most recent diagnosis from the neurologist is Ataxia and Neuropathy of the left side.  Which basically means he has virtually no feeling in his left leg and foot - probably the results of both a broken femur (more than 30 years ago) and his more recent heart and lung surgeries and the bed confinement from all of those.

Vanessa (Butterfly Reborn) - requests prayer for her family.  There were no specifics, but I am sure the Lord knows.

Vanessa - We have all followed the story of Elizabeth.  Here is her Caringbridge page:

Hi George;

We had an OK, yet not super productive weekend. Saturday, we got up, measured all the rooms that haven't been painted, yet and were getting ready to head to Home Depot when the sky opened up. Since our dogs are not fans of thunderstorms, we spent the next hour and a half keeping them calm. We finally did all our calculations and realized we needed 24 gallons of paint to finish the interior of the house. We got to Home Depot in the afternoon, had all of our colors mixed, etc. We got home and got the car unloaded around 6pm. That took a lot longer than expected.

Sunday, we tubed the Comal River with some friends. It was good to see them and we were lucky enough to not get rained on. After three runs down the river, it was time for some BBQ. Yum! We were slightly sad to miss the Red Wings game, but *loved* the outcome. I read Michael the game summary while we were driving home.

Today, we probably should've started painting, but instead, we went to the pool for a few hours, ran some errands and then met up with one of my former colleagues for sno-cones.

Overall, we probably should've kicked butt on painting, but we didn't. We needed a break and I can probably get my mom and stepdad to help out while Michael's in Atlanta next week. At least we got everything purchased and colors are decided on.

Prayers for all who need them. Have a good night.
Blessings, Jennifer

Seriously, with what you accomplished Saturday, you did a lot.  It was good for you to take time with Micheal and have fun with friends.

With painting, my mother-in-law always recruited Mary and I to help her paint.  But she had one rule.  George was not allowed to paint, he was really bad at it.  My job was keeping everyone's iced tea glasses full.

Now, was George really bad at painting?  Or did he just do a bad job to get that reputation?  I'll never tell.

DING...you've got mail...

Annnyway, we had a pretty good day I guess.  V has to do something with the weight so after talking to the trainer at Lifetime, she's going to do the Team Weight Loss program on a trial basis.  They let you do it a month first before charging you for the class which in my opinion, is cool!  Granted, you don't get the spiral bound books they give the people, but that's ok for now.  The instructor pretty much told me she'd really like to see ME do it too, if nothing else, but for moral support that I'm doing it too.  oooookkkkkk.  The class is only at 9:00 am or 6:00 pm so I asked the lady if it were ok for me to do the 9 am one and she can do the 6 pm one but once school is out, she can do the 9:00 am with me.  I really can do the intense class that late or I'd NEVER unwind before bed!!!  So we both went to class this morning at 9:00, then we came home, did the "tag, you're it" thing with hubby as then HE went to the gym and took Sarah, so I let Heather sleep a bit longer and then went in and told her at 10:45 that she was going to HAVE to get up so I could take HER to the gym as she was the only one who didn't go.  Yeah, THAT went over well, but she eventually went!  HA!  Granted, she could have sat there and not done anything but she knows if she did that, she'd run the risk of getting tattled on because she is always giving me grief about how whenever we go anywhere, I always run into people I know!  hehehe... the "parent" spies!  I love it!

We grilled burgers and then ate together.  Before we ate though, I made the girls give me one reason why they think we celebrate Memorial Day.  All of them gave fairly decent responses so they at least understand WHY we stay home, not just a regular ol' day off!

Hope everyone has a great (shorter) week!!!

Great about the gym stuff, Sis.  But I am really impressed at your parenting skills making sure the kids know the why about Memorial Day.  That is awesome.

My week is going to be great.  I just added a half a day of vacation to my time off.  So, on Thursday night I will wor****il 1:45 AM, then be gone until the following Thursday night.  No work on either job until then.  Friday night I have the Rangers doubleheader.  Saturday morning Eddie has a doubleheader, then I have a night game for the Rangers.  Sunday, Eddie probably has a game at 8AM (bracket play), then Jana has a dance recital at Will Rogers Auditorium at 2PM, then we will leave right from there to Louisiana.

Evening George and all,

Sorry the Rangers got their hinney's spanked today, but that will make them play better, and smarter tomorrow.

I've had an awesome weekend, went to Debbi T's this afternoon for Danni and Tim's celebration, had some wonderful peep time, and received some great hugs!  I love working from home, but I also realized today that I have totally become a recluse, it's so much easier hiding at home and not having to deal with human interaction.  I'm having a hard time putting my thoughts into words, so let's just say I have huge self esteem issues that I am working on.  This weekend I worked a concession stand for DD's old select basketball team, celebrated the wonderful accomplishments of my friend's daughters college graduation, and celebrated the wonderful gift of freedom that Tim gives to our country, and for the love and commitment that Danni gives to him, two very awesome folks in my book!  These might be small steps for some, but have been huge steps for me.

Prayers for all of the spoken and unspoken requests, special healing prayers for our children Elizabeth Grace and Isaac, special prayers for those that are hurting tonight for whatever reason.  Blessings to all.

Avis

Keep sticking your big toe in the water to check it.  Make those steps outside your comfort zone.  Pretty soon, it will be in your comfort zone.  God bless.

Thanks for the encouraging words George.  I know I have to put myself out there, on stepping out of that comfort zone.  It's hard, acknowledging it's hard, and allowing others to kick my hinney out there, to me is a huge step in the right direction.  And I will have to say that the huge hugs I received from Que, Debbi, Kris and Chris were all awesome and healing today.  Please keep gently kicking me in the right direction......
