June 9th with Dr. Nick...I'm actually going thru with it!!!!!!!
So I'm really excited! I start my pre op diet on Tuesday... everyone is telling me to get my last supper in and have a good one but I figure why mess it up already! I've lost about 11 pounds in the past few months just cutting out as much junk as I can.. why would I want to sabotage myself like that!
Anyways... I'm paying cash so it freaking me out to know that half of my savings account is going to be wiped out in less then 2 weeks but I'll have the rest of my life to thank for it! I'm really scared for my kids and my son is 7 and thinks that I'm going to die because the last two people that were in the hospital did die. I don't know what else to say to comfort him. He is my world and I don't want him to be sad or worry!
Pre op diet... its not a total liquid diet so that's great but man.... that's gonna take some getting use to! I can have 5 slim fast products a day... all shakes or bars or mixed.. whatever I want.. and then I can have 5oz of protein and 4oz of veggies and 1oz of fruit a day and as much non calorie liquids as I'd like.... anyone have any suggestions on vitamins? Thanks for listening! Can't wait!!!!!!! I'm 27 and I'm hoping when I'm 28 I'll be a whole new me for me as well as my family!

Good luck to you on your surgery on the 9th. I am also having my surgery on the 9th. I am having the RNY though. I started my 2 wk. preop today. I have to do high protein low carbs until the 8th and then all clear liquids and SF jello. Basically the Atkins diet for 2 weeks.
As for the vitamins, have you looked into the Bariatric Advantage? They taste great and were formulated for bariatric patients. That is what my doctor recommends for all her patients.
Anyway, I hope everything works out for you. Just keep reassuring your son that you will be fine.
See you on the losers bench soon...

I'm so impressed with your statement about not wanting to sabotage yourself. I'm also very excited that you are doing to Dr. Nick. I just love that man! I think you are so incredibly awesome because you are paying cash and I'm thinking you'll be far more serious about getting yourself healthy because of it. Congratulations!!!! I hope you'll consider coming to the Obesity Help event in September and showing off your new self!

I'm so excited for you. And you have made a great decision for choosing Dr. Nick. He is an awesome surgeon. You are in very capable hands. The liquid diet is not hard. The first couple of days are a little awkward, but after that it's a breeze. I actually chose the Wal-Mart brand of Slim Fast type drinks. The vanilla was my favorite. I also got the Slim Fast chocolate chip muffin snack bars. I only had one a day, but it helped me feel like I was getting a treat and if I recall they were only 120 or so calories. Just keep telling yourself why you're doing it. It's all worth it in the end.
I will be looking for you on the loser's bench.
Take care!

Good luck with your surgery. Sounds from your post you are ready and will do fantastic after. Kudos to you for sticking to your plan and not having to have "the last supper". You will be able to eat again, not in the quantities you ate as a pre-op but you will, stay focused on getting to your goals, this is going to be an amazing ride for you.
