Julie,

Dr. Patel put me back on my blood pressure pills on day 4 after surgery.  They are small, but he doesn't believe in crushing pills.  I did not have any trouble with them.

He said I could swallow any pill that is not bigger than an M&M.

At my 6 week appt I asked my surgeon when I could switch to adult vitamins instead of Flintstone chewable and he said any time as long as it didn't cause me discomfort.  I was taking those whopping calcium pills at that point.  No problems for me either.

Julie:  I don't know that there is a cure-all for NOT losing hair.......in MOnths 3-6 or 7 I think that I lost eough to make a few Barbie's !!!  lol

It has finally ended and my hair is actually growing and seems to be alot healthier in the past 4-6 months.     I will be okay -It just takes time for your body to catch up and realize that you are NOT starving it to death !!
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

Julie, Biotin will not hurt to take, but to be honest with you, your hair is going to fall out, plz dont worry it will come back. Get you some nioxin shampoo and conditioner and hang in there. Psss I am a hairstylist, not a physician LOL Hang in there all of us tend to lose the hair, but I promise it will come back

I've been able to swallow average sized pills from 6 weeks out.  Don't crush pills unless it specifically says it can be crushed.  Most can be cut in half with a pill sutter but most times that's not necessary either.

I specifically did a lot of research on Biotin and never found any conclusive evidence that it worked.  Mot people lose a ton of hair from 3-7 months post-op then it starts coming back in.  Mine was so bad I seriouslt thought I was going to have to wear a wig.  But look st my current pics and you can see it came back in just fine.
