wanting to share
I wanted to share with you guys that I just signed up for the Komen Race for the Cure (http://www.komen-houston.org/site/TR/Race/General?fr_id=1060&pg=entry) It's maybe even scarier than facing surgery. I've never run before now and it's not easy. I'm doing the Couch to 5K plan (http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml) and am now on week 3. I'll finish week 3 this weekend and move on to week 4 next week - it's supposed to be really hard so it may take me several weeks to get it down but that's OK. I just hope I have enough time to be able to work up to running the whole 5K before the race October 3rd. There were lots of levels to enter from family walk to competitive run. I signed up for the non-competitive run. It's frightening and a little bit exciting as well to think that I could actually do this. I just wanted to share.
Another wonderful thing happened - today I weighed myself at 198. I don't think I've been below 200 since I was a teen. I am truly blessed.

Hi Marty!
I admire you for signing up for the race. That's a big challenge you've set for yourself and has to be a little intimidating.
I started running about a year ago on a whim. It was the strangest feeling to actually run. I walked around the house saying to my kids, "I'm a runner." I was saying it to be funny but at the same time, I was saying it out loud to help me believe. I had such a sedentary life before WLS that I simply couldn't believe I could actually run! The day I ran 2 miles without stopping or feeling like I needed someone to call Care Flight was amazing!
Good luck with that and congratulations on reaching onederland.
Thanks for sharing with us and don't be a stranger!
