Hello all!!

Had surgery monday and just now getting around to hooking up my laptop at my parents!!!

Everything has just gone so well so far. I have sore abs and a sore back from the recliner, but I'm nervous to try and lay down flat!!! i think that would hurt!!!

Drinking liquids has been great. I'm getting more then 60 oz everyday, except today! I think thats pretty good, and the day isn't over yet... protein is a little different... I'm getting about 40 grams and I get SO full I haven't made it to my 58 grams needed yet.

I took out my pain pump today and tossed it out and not I can't wait to get to the dr. and get these stiches out!!!

My nurses were amazing!!! They said I was a 'poster child' for surgery as I was out of surgery at about 11 am and walking by 2!!! :)

Just thought I'd give you all an update!!

Wow, you are a poster child for the surgery!! You are doing great!! As far as sleeping in the bed, I did from the day I got home. I rolled in and out of bed and used a body pillow. Keep sippin and walkin and keep up the good job!!

Glad to hear you are feeling so good - WOO HOO !!!!

Don't worry about the protein - it will come in time as the swelling goes down from the surgery - just get what you can in without forcing it.  You are doing great!

Woo Hoo Stacey, girlfriend sounds like you are recovery great!  60 oz of water is AMAZING and the 40 grams of protein at this stage too.  It's a matter of time before you can somewhat be consistent in what to do.

Congrats and welcome to the losers bench.  Oh when trying to sleep in the bed, get extra pillows to prop yourself up.  I never did sleep in a recliner....I stole just about all the pillows in the house though to surround and prop up, lol.

Hey, does dr barker give you the pain pump and something to take orally?

He does give both plus some meds for nausea.  My pain pump leaked so they had to take it out at the hospital but it wasn't bad.  I didn't realize it was helping with the tenderness around the incisions until they took it out.  But overall I didn't have much pain at all.  I took the pain meds around the clock the first 24 hours at home.  You are going to do just great!!!!  Dr. Barker is a great surgeon.  I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do mine.
