Rough Time getting all the protein in

I had my surgery 5/11 and it seems that some days I can only get 10g of protein in ....  Other days I can get 25 or so in..  Also I am barley able to get around 40oz of water in.

I drink protein drinks but it seems that I have to water it down or it's too sweet to stand.  By the time I finish with a portion of it I usually feel like I have to hurl..

Any ideas on how to make it a bit easier...

Don't stress too much about how many grams of protein you can get down, at least for another couple of weeks.  You can barely eat anything right now, and that's OK.  Just don't substitute carbs or junk instead.

I think protein drinks are gross if you make them according to the mfr. directions.  And they ARE very sweet.  What saved me was buying a Magic Bullet.  Try blending your protein drinks with about twice the amount of liquid the protein tub says to put in, plus as much ice as you can fit into the Magic Bullet container.  I like to use unsweetened soymilk because it boosts the protein without adding sugar grams or additional sweet taste.  For me, coldness and iciness makes protein shakes MUCH more palatable.  I also prefer flavors that aren't too dessert-y, such as coffee flavors.  I get in 31g of protein each morning now with a protein shake, and I don't even mind drinking it.

I know how you feel.  I felt in the beginning like I wasn't getting anything right.  But now I've lost 73 pounds in less than five months -- 2/3 of the way to my goal.  I was doing better than I gave myself credit for.  Best of luck to you.

There is almost no way to get 60-70-80 grams of protein in right now.  Just keep working daily to get in everything you can.  Are you allowed s/f pudding?  You might buy some 8th Continent Light Soy milk or Carb Control Low Fat milk and make your on.......it adds some good protein for you.

Maybe try 1/2 serving of protein powder at one time with 4 oz of milk or water instead of a whole scoop.  Then drink it a little more often if you can.  Ice cold protein shakes are best for me or added to my coffee, I can't do cool shakes.

40 oz of water right now is very good, I know you are trying to get in more but remember you are only 9 days out and learning your new pouch.  It takes some time.

My dear you are barely a week out! Your body is in shock! Just sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. It gets easier just keep doing a little more each day and you will get there. Pureed soup is great for upping protein when you get to the stage when you can have! I really liked the pureed chicken tortilla soup because it was LOADED with flavor! Hang in there kiddo!

I used to mix up a protein drink and sip one ounce an hour when I first started.  Don't worry about how much you're consuming right now, it will get easier with time.  40 oz of water is fantastic this early out.
